Billericay Town 1 Chesham United 0

Great passing move finishing with a pin point cross from Mark Graham onto Paul Fewing's head to score the only goal of the game.Town had many chances to increase the lead but the Chesham keeper either saved well or we wasted them.Essandoh had to go off with a head injury early on in the first half and we missed him up front. But Fewings showed lots of class and the Essandoh and Fewings partnership looks wicked, especially when we r not letting hardly any goals in at the back.Marky Graham was wicked today.

1st half passed the ball around very well, took an early lead again through Paul Fewings who headed home a Mark Graham cross. Would have been good value for at least another 1st half goal but wasn't to be, were disrupted by Essandoh having to go off (apparently he got an accidental finger in the eye) 2nd half poor from both teams, Chesham had some ggod possesion and a fair few corners but JJ had a fairly quiet game (compared to tuesday!) Fewings hit the post for us second half, and Carthy had a couple of good headers. Up to 3rd by my reckoning, can't be bad!

it was a rather average performance today, but in the end we beat a fairly poor chesham team very comfortably. we rarely ever got out of "third gear" which perhaps shows the quality we have this season.

nice to see fewings getting a goal on his return and jj keeping another clean sheet.

lets have 3pts tuesday (although i'd take a draw!)

Another good game by The Town. However there was once again another disappointing performance by Jamie Wallace. He could of had a hat trick today, he also made many mistakes. I dont see how he can be in the team and Scott Forrester not even being in the squad!

What are other peoples views on this?

i thought in the first half we played well especially mark graham. paul fewings took his goal well and had a good first game back. we missed essandoh (lets hope he s back for tuesday) and jamie missed a couple of decent chances which i think unsettled him and contributed to his poor second half. we should have been more than 1 up at half time given our domination.

i thought the 2 nd half was abject, the worst 45 mins ive seen from the team this season and it was only due to the even greater degree of uselessness from chesham that they didnt get back into it. we need to make sure we play for 90 mins and not think weve done the bizz when we take a 1-0 lead. brennan needs to take some responsibility on the pitch and make sure we keep trying to play rather than hoofing it anywhere.

on the plus side tho we won the game and kept another clean sheet (tight as a gnats..) altho we will need to play better to get anything at purfleet......cmon the bluessssss

After looking forward to this game I have to say what a disapointment it was. Although we dominated the first half we both teams looked as though they were have a Sunday walk in the park!!!

I would agree that the goal was well taken and there were plenty of chances (which were wasted) and we did dominate but to be honest, where Tuesdays game was a good advert for Non League Football, Saturdays wasn't. Even the ref was "chilled" for want of a better word. Perhaps both teams and the ref were tripping on something. I would expect their keeper was!!! He was a nightmare.

Still, as we all say, a win, three points and third in the league. I suppose entertainment comes a poor second when you look at it that way.

The reason Jamie Wallace is in the team is his attitude. If you saw him play at Hayes you would understand. He was unlucky not to score, but then many others were as well. It was perhaps not one of Jamie's better games, but to say "another" disappointing performance is totally unfair. You also have to bare in mind that he rarely plays 90 minutes with the first team.

He has improved greatly since last year and can only go on to improve further. He must be doing something right, because if your face doesn't fit you're out!!

If jl and Gary Clark think that Saturday's game was bad, and the worst 45 minutes they have seen they obviously didn't go to Maidenhead!!

We seem to have a large level of inconsistancy that means were are either extremely entertaining or extremely poor. The ability of the opposition seems to have a lot to do with it. We seem to lack imagination. If our "game plan" doesn't work we just resort to hoofing the ball downfield because we can't think of anything else.

Very true, mr T. I think if you accept that the first choice strike partnership is Fewings & Essandoh then whoever's the 3rd (or 4th) choice striker is going to end up spending much of his season on the bench and in the reserves. If you take this week as an example, Jamie will quite probably, assuming Essandoh is fit, be on the bench again on Tuesday at Purfleet. He could well then be asked to play in the reserves (who I believe he captains this season) on Wednesday, train on Thursday before being on the bench again against Yeading on Saturday.

He was picked out at the awards night last season for his superb attitude, and that is why he is excellent value in the squad whilst the (arguably more talented) likes of Opara, Dunwell, Boateng etc have slipped off into obscurity. Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Jamie so far this season is that he's managed to stay fit!

Can't agree with you there, Marky, for two reasons. 1) Attitude is important because it is very rare for "decent" strikers to be happy with spending most of their time on the bench, then being asked to come on for 10 or 20 mins and impact on the game. 2) Overall I think Jamie's had a pretty decent start to the season - Against Hendon he was exceptional 2nd half, as Mr T said he was good against Hayes, and in pretty much every game he's played in he's caused the opposition defenders problems. He missed a couple of chances on Saturday, but he wasn't the only one who was less than impressive.

Personally, one bad game and missed chances does not make a bad player.

I can remember when Willo was having a bad time and we all (yes I include me) got on his back. Look at him now. A better player all round. Personally, I think he is playing in the wrong position as right back and the midfield miss his "bite".

So, leave young Wallace alone. He fights hard and as we have said, gives the oppo problems with his all round effort. It was the team as a whole that didn't play well on Saturday, not one individual.

Come on lads, turn it in. Jamie Wallace is not good ehough for the standard he is playing at. I agree that a good attitude is an admirable quality, he is keen, willing and enthusiastic.....just like all the worst players in teams of all standards, Under 8's, Sunday league or FA Prem!

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure he's a lovely lad, but I've got to agree with Marky B, this does not merit a place in the side, sub or otherwise. He is the sort of player who will get an award for turning up early to the ground with clean boots and offering to clean the kit! - he is not the sort of player who wins championships. Joe Baker meanwhile has the sort of quality which can deliver for the side.....come back Joe, all is forgiven!!!!

I didn't hear you slagging off Forrester when he "could have had a couple" against Aylesbury? I have every confidence that Jamie will come good and prove his critics wrong in much the same way that Willo has. Everybody wants to see Joe Baker back and playing well, but if he's not in the team, and with the two Grahams etc playing as well as they are, I wouldn't pick him on current (or pre season, or much of last season come to that) form, then it's a fair chunk of the playing budget to be keeping the bench warm.

We seem to be going around in circles but I think the main point is that you will not be able to get a decent Ryman Premier League striker who is willing to sit on the bench just for the occasional 20 minute runout (only 10 mins if John Kendall is your manager). Jamie appears to be willing to do this and give 100% when he comes on. I dont think Joe will be the same, he will want to start games (although he is under contract so if he returns he may not have a choice unless someone else buys him).

If Roy and Paul remain fit do we have a problem anyway?
