Telford

Telford = 2 chances, 2 goals

GNFC = 0 chances

Not one player wanted to win that game, but more distressing was the Fans second half. Behind the goal there was almost a mini fleet revolt among our own fans what was going on?? The Woking match was superb, pure encouragement, this match was a disgrace behind the goal second half. Fans were having a go at each other. Wether we are new fans or old fans there should be one aim and that is encouragement. Myself and the lads are going to think about not turning up anymore even after the whole of the last 4 years watching, we do NOT slag the players off and we do NOT think we can do better - so the minority which seem to think they can should shut it or lose lots more fans!!

A not very happy fan!!

Dont give up yet Richard. The crowd size held up well today considering a lack of away support. The performance was Ok, luck was not on the side of the Fleet today. We did look very lightweight in attack. Perhaps on Tuesday the line up that finished the game should start. Telford were not a great side but new exactly how to approach the game. Somebody had been doing their homework. Theres a long way to go yet. Home performances need to improve though. Support will come with it.

The players themselves know when they've played badly and the last thing that they need is some halfwit resorting to personal insults and getting on individuals' backs.

I understand that if you pay your money then you are entitled to your opinion but those individuals who only appear when other teams are playing away and voice their misinformed and, on occasion, wholly unjustified opinions to all and sundry tend to get up the noses of those of us who go home and away and have been doing so for a number of years.

The team need encouragement not constant slagging off. They can clearly hear everything that is shouted at them on the pitch, there are only 1000 people there not 55000 like in the Premiership when the individual taunts get drowned out.

The performance at Burton on Tuesday was untold amounts better than the one today but the individual concerned who annoyed the majority of the group who I stand with was noticeable by his absence at that game. The one player who constantly gets both barrels of his nonsensical abuse was the only player who in the 20 minutes he came on the pitch looked like he was going to create something.

The team need our support more than ever at this current moment, the last thing we need is people slagging them off especially when they don't see every match.

I can understand how you feel about not coming again, on occasion I have felt the same but unfortunately individuals such as the knocker I am on about are part and parcel of following a team. All we other supporters have to do is make sure that the support and singing that we do drowns out his moronic ramblings and that we all get behind the team starting with the game on Tuesday night. His team are probably at home that night so he won't be there.

I apologise if this might come across as harsh but I, and many other supporters, have suffered in silence for too long and it is about time something was said.

If all you can do is slag the team off and get personal with players then, in my opinion, I'd rather you kept your 9 quid.

Anyway, Ill see you all on Tuesday, in full cry and supportive hopefully.

Its true that we didn't show much invention or creativity today, and our usual dominant midfield didn't really get going. But it was not for the lack of effort. Sometimes, you have games like this. ( We have had plenty in recent seasons, however the poor standard of most teams in the Rymans meant that we never got punished for them).

Once we get a few of the players back from the treatment table ( we are really starting to miss Duku & Bentley ) poor games and defensive lapses such as today should hopefully get further apart.

We have never been the most vociferous of fans, but lets all get behind the team on Tuesday night, Its important that we keep our noses in front of the bottom three places.

We all knew it would be difficult this year..

Well said Jimmy, if people want to support the fleet they should support them when they play badly, like today, as well as when they play well.

It's easy to sing and cheer when we are winning easily like the Nuneaton game but when the boys really need a lift is when they aren't performing well.

As for criticism of individual players we should all remember what level of football we are watching, if our players didn't make mistakes or miss chances or play the odd " ave it " type hoof straight up in the air they would be playing at Arsenal not at Gravesend.

The exhibition of head tennis we saw in the first half today wasn't brilliant but these players are all part-timers trying their hardest, its just that sometimes they have a bad day.

I first watched the fleet in 1971 and I believe the current squad is as good as any I have seen. We should all get behind them and accept the fact that we are not going to win every week this year.

I've no idea what goes on behind the goal but have obviously noticed over the years that if the team/club is struggling then the numbers considerably drop on those terraces .

As my junior team had a ' meet the press' day I was unable to get up to see the Fleet and so instead had to watch the team the half wit you refer to supports join the Saints in a match that cried out for a Che , a Tostao or a goal from anywhere .And that was with about 6 or 7 Scandinavian internationals on the field .

Never mind . Donnie lost at Dover today .

I was also behind the goal yesterday and it doe's drive you mad when certain supporters start getting on the players back when they don't perform as well as we know they can. Well done to the supporter who told the heckler to shut up and start getting behind the team.

I travelled to the Forest Green match last week and the performance again wasn't great but I didn't hear any of the travelling Fleet supporters having a go at the players.

I think we all knew that it wasn't going to be easy this year and with the injuries we have had so far I think the task in hand has been made even more difficult. Let's not forget it's still early days and this time next week, if we get a result against Doncaster and Northwich, we could well shoot up the table into the top 10!

So come on lads, lets sing our hearts out for the lads on Tuesday night!

The half-wit that we are all talking about only comes to us when Charlton are away - perhaps he should stay at home because his vocal 'non-support' isn't welcome. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif" alt="" />

Well if he is a Charlton fan, he should be used to losing at home!

I have followed the Fleet for a long time and the sad idiot who shouts out and gets on peoples nerves is indeed a sad Charlton supporter, I just wish he would find another team to support when he cannot be bothered to go and see them.

I will name him if he continues to slag off Paul Booth, he has done so for a long time and it starts to get on people nerves, I thought Booth looked good when he came on on Saturday and as someone who watches games both home and away I think I am a better person to speak that this twat.

OK the team were not great on Saturday, but watching them chatting in the middle of the pitch after the game, they did not need telling by anyone else that they fell short of the mark.

Like Jimmy I would sooner this kind of so called supporter paid his £9 to someone else.

GNFC can well do without, perhaps he could take a long walk along a short pier, in fact walk anywhere but down to Stonebridge Road.

But please don't stop supporting the lads because of this prat, they and the club need you to shout so much that this idiot cannot be heard.

Come on you Reds

I should like to add my thoughts on the moronic heckling of Paul Booth. It is important that we get behind a player who tries 100% and is not afraid to have a go at goal. His & Liam's efforts at the end of the match certainly put the Telford defence under pressure and, standing behind the goal, it was clear that on the day luck was not on our side. How different it might have been if Che had stuck away his 1st half chance..we must remember that we will not win every match in the Conference but that support for every player will help us to win the points our efforts deserve. As a footnote, perhaps the moron concerned is not aware of the recent death of Paul's father, and at a time when he needs our support he gets heckled. This sort of behaviour has no place on our terraces.

We seem to be becoming the Chelsea of the Conference, we do well against the good sides, but of the four games that we have lost, three of them have, in my opinion, been against very poor sides.

The defence is holding up well considering that we still have three key players injured from that part of the team, but the problem is still that we are not scoring enough goals.

We did create chances, and if there was a stat for good crosses but no one on the end of it, we would lead the conference by miles.

If we can only afford to bring in one more player, then it has to be a proven goalscorer.

Fact is we need Duku Barnett and Skins back as soon as possible..We say the defence is holding up well yet we always look like conceeding so i dont think its holding up well at all !! Lew Watts looks quite cultured when he's on the ball but i dont think he has the strength or tackling ability to stay in the side once the Duke and Aaron are back and he seems error prone. Everyone says we need to score more goals...I actually thought Che and Akpo looked decent up front on Saturday. The problem we have is that there was no real support from the midfield...Jacko didnt get in the game at all, Steve hasnt dominated a game like he did last season and Tostao was a touch off colour as was Jimmy Strouts...If the midfields not firing its difficult to get the supply to Che and Akpo...Still not too bothered once the players are back we'll turn the corner unless confidence becomes an issue.

Quote from thread 'TELFORD GAME':

Super Daz: think we have plenty of quality in midfield - the creativity starts to disappear when the midfield have to drop back to cover the frailities of the defence.

Get the defence sorted, the midfield can then get on with creating - create enough chances and the forward line will put the ball in the net.
