So I was looking at the other Essex Senior League forums...

>>>I remember watching Enfield play against D&R in the late 90's. It's understandable, they had a good following then.

Sorry, PM, it's not the same Enfield.

Enfield FC - that's the one you are referring to - were a force in the Isthmian (Ryman) League, but they lost their ground, and for a time they played at Boreham Wood, and have slowly slipped down the pyramid.

After a series of let-downs, a section of their supporters formed their own team, called Enfield Town, and they joined the ESL - this is the team with the largish support. The original Enfield FC still exist, but play at Ware FC, and are struggling to get gates of more than one hundred.

Enfield FC were - and still are - in the Isthmian League - only this season they have been transferred into the Southern League east, presuambly on geographical grounds.

Enfield Town - this is the new club formed by supporters of Enfield FC - were in the ESL but this season were promoted into the Southern League east.

So both Enfields are now in the same league.

No - it was the old Enfield who won 1-0 against the new Enfield Town - the gate was 461 and the match was played at Ware FC.

I'm sure the official figure was higher than that - and the real crowd seemed to be a lot more than the official figure.

Just for your info. Town were promoted from the ESL as Champions and EFC were promoted from Ryman 2 (same level as ESL) into the Southern League as Ryman 2 runners up last season. the two clubs have met twice with EFC beating ETFC in last season's Vase at Ware and with ETFC winning (4-1 I think) at Brimmo in the Middlesex Charity Cup the sason before. Next season's two Enfield derbies are to be played on the Monday after Christmas and Easter Saturday. Both should be big gates and you are all welcome!!

yeah thats right esu....but I'm not sure it was the ESL that wouldn't give us a 'derby' its down to us and romford to sort that out....I fear that romford want boxing day/new years day off....I hope I am wrong here and will rely on the good folk of the boro to prove as such...

surely if these guys care so much for their club they will ensure that the boro/urchin games take place over the xmas holidays...we are fully up for it......

at the moment there is a loud silence over the issue...

however...if all else fails I think we should take the urchin xmas hoardes over to those enfield games..we do after all need xmas footie to get the blood flowing....

what say 3 quid a go and hot pies and mulled wine in return....

and by the way.....we'll need to accomodate the whippets as well.....

personally I think that if we aint gonna get a game over xmas we should pick an ESL team and go down there and enjoy their game...at least that way we support our own league....at the same time we could order the hog roast and mulled wine in advance....in fact we'll get our 'burger dave' to take the van over...

these fixtures at xmas MUST be made to happen....
