Lymington Latest

Recommended Posts

Starting to look a bit more of a settled side, with, Skins,Porter, Prothers, Jacko and Drury waiting in the wings. Once again the result is a bit less important than the chance for the players to familiarise themselves with each other, and to establish a method of play.

A win would still be nice, though.

Nice sports club at Lymington. Toured there 4 years ago with my cricket team. The footy team were training on the soccer pitch adjacent to where we were playing and they looked useful then.

Good drinkers too. Rather splendid (if drunken) night followed with Luddesdowne CC in a drinking competition between a combined Lymington cricket and football 15. We settled for a draw!!

According to the Basingstoke website Fridays result was hardly impressive.

According to the comments made after the 1-1 draw with lowly Lymington the performance was also hardly impressive.

Again I reiterate what I said elsewhere, and was criticised for, 2005/06 looks like its going to be a very very long season.

Some people just don't like doom and gloom merchants, which you certainly are. Go through all your 80 odd posts, I bet over half of them are negative. It's depressing!

They may have been 3 leagues below us but they certainly played well. A Couple of their players will definatly move up the non league ranks of football sooner or later.

Far from being a doom and gloom merchant.

I have supported the 'Fleet' since attending the Exeter City game during the 1962/63 FA Cup run.(most of seem to dislike what I say, probably were not even born then?)

I have seen so many disappointing pre-seasons (which almost inevitably lead to disappointing seasons), heard so many excuses as to why the club has not achieved success during a season, and listened to so many false promises from the club that I have become a realist.

That said I will still be supporting the club into the future. Unlike many of whom and gone-off to pastures new.

Pretty much tend to side with u WVN. Our overall squad should be good enough to demolish Lymington and i have been a regular since the 87-88 season. The only other trialist who looks likely to sign to me at the moment(apart from Kerr) is Kim Grant as he seems to be at all the games, the others arent. If we are going to sign full time players we have to make sure they are good enough for the starting x1 and not just squad players otherwise we're wasting our resources. Im also baffled as to why the club arranged only 2 home friendlies citing the excuse about increased attendances. This to me doesnt seem like good preparation for the season but the opening day we will all tell if im speaking rubbish and hopefully i am.
