Let the Heartaches Begin

Another of the great singers of the sixties has now gone with the death in canada of Long John Baldry. Without him a lot of major stars would have struggled to get known without the help he gave them.

R.I.P.

LJB was a prolific songwriter as well and a performing/recording artist and was undoubtedly one of the best blues/R&B artists of the 20 century....he is of course the man that found a teenage and very intoxicated rod stewart singing on clapham railway station platform 4 after a night out and the rest as they say is history

I once had the pleasure of seeing him..chris farlow and paul jones at the original marquee club...

RIP

oh you'd be surprised how 'lucky' I am brunob....

of course there is another line of thought that

says 'you make your own luck'...but hey....who am I to argue....its a bit like my golf really..the harder I practice the better I get....

in any event...they were wonderful days and indeed if luck comes in to it...yes....I was lucky to be born when I was and to grow up when I did...

I have also been 'lucky' enough to own a cabaret club and we had some of the best 60's bands play there...inc jones/d'arbo and the manfred mann band...(I'll never forget their rendition of 'god on our side'...) lyrics that very much before their time spelled out clearly the problems of today...

great memories and wonderful nights that all the money in the world could not buy...

Just proves that Wealth is not always counted in the pocket.

One of the best nights of music I ever enjoyed was in the mid 80's when Georgie Fame played a 60's request night in a local Wood Green pub at a MOD club on a stage about two bricks high, pure quality.
