TDC leader's BIG error!

Yes, Mr.Sandy Ezekiel, whilst summing up after may I add, seconding our plans for approval, then has to mention the threats, text messages etc he recieved earlier in the year and stated that he will not however be intimidated despite his support for us and football back at Margate. He was WRONG to say that in public, without proof of it being Margate fans and I feel he should make a public apology for bringing that up at a meeting that is to do with this club. To do so with the public, the press and other council individuals in attendance displayed his lack of professionalism. I took it personnally and so should all of you. Without proof of it being anything to do with the fans of this club he should be reprimanded for doing so. He is truly thanked for his support,as he continually reports to having, but his rant was both not needed warranted or substantiated. Shame on him and I will be looking for a public apology from the leader of the council.

Thanks go to the chairman of the planning commitee who pushed this forward for tonightrs decision. Previously sceptic concerning our plans he came up with the perfect answer to a councillors worries concerning parking. His reply was "parking has been there for 10,20,30 years so whats different now".(Not exact words of course but thats the jist of his answer). Coming from a previous anti Margate plan councillor would like to say to BILL HAYTON that his reply was both appreciated, true and well thought out.He was very influential in this decision and if we can get people like him on-side then we are going the right way.

This was NOT a party political broadcast!

It could have been done by computer. You can text people from a website, forgotten the address now. Also you can withhold your number from your mobile.

He did make an almighty mistake but he is very angry at that. Not trying to account for his comments but he was angry about being intimidated like that by those who call themselves Margate fans, but arent. I know there were some fans who think they were being picked out but it clearly wasnt them.

Bill Hayton has been Chair of Planning previously and is a nice guy.

Was it me or were some of the Labour Councillors being rather nice to the fans? Labour Councillors usually arent THAT nice to the public gallery.

As far as I know there was no acceptance or admission from anyone as to who sent him text messages and there certainly wasnt an admission from ANYONE, either MFC fans, or some other person making out it was MFC fans. He didnt KNOW who sent them therefore he was walking on sticky ground to intimate that this was so.

I played cricket against Bill some years ago and have known him for some time but in his role of councillor he has been against certain aspects of this scheme but tonight he gave a lead towards a victory. Nice guy but still a councillor. Good on ya Bill.

Yea but if it was a threat maybe trace time of text then website cbfsms for example then i.p. address. Can you with hold your number in a txt?

you are correct all texts are traceable to the message center, Either as you say by IP or by number which is logd at the message center despite you witholding your number or not, which you cant do when texting anyhow. personaly i thought at the time he was bluffing for another reason to say no MFC. As no one was caught or named i still feel he was on this part being like a normal counciler a total liar!

I dont think anyone really knows what the content of those text messages were and if they were true and they were sent then only SE would know. He had the opportunity of taking it to the authorities but declined to do so. Had he done so maybe the culprit would have been caught and the good name of this club and its fans wouldnt have been tarnished.

The point I have tried to make, apart from his outburst aimed at us who were there last night and without any proof whatsoever that they had come from a "fan", is that last nights meeting anyway was and should not have been about Sandy Ezekiel. It was solely to talk, possibly debate and give a decision conernng our application. Nothing else! Despite him re-iterating his support for this he deemed it necessary to make this point. Why cant the guy just be nice in the entirerity and accept the decision with grace.

Although I was not there, it seems that mentioning it at all was a very churlish, ill-judged and inappropriate response from a public figure of some standing.

I do not think the man has done himself any favours, the best course of action would have been to be gracious, and accept and welcome the decision as a step forward for the community.

Politicians often feel they should get the last word in, on some occasions they should learn that less, is more.

Prove it! Before making a comment annon.I know you havent intimated in the above that it was anything to do with us fans but yes,you are correct in that threatening texts are something someone should not tolerate so I come back to my point in that he should havereported it and taken further action to sus out the culprit.By not having done that he has left himself wide open for others to doubt that text messages were even sent in the first place. There is absolutely NO proof whatsoever that those texts were actually sent. He could well have had a carpet returned by a customer who had a gripe with him or some twat could have gone over the line and signed of as a margate fan. Who knows, but without any definite proof that they actually came from one of us then I am sorry but the guy was completely out of order on a night that wasnt about him and his personal issues.

Some of our fans have 'form' in this respect. Ask Mark Winter who used to work for the Dover Express – he received some very unpleasant messages from Margate fans after an article he wrote a couple of years ago.

I also recall our official website mentioning the messages to SE and, rightly, urging those responsible to stop. Were they wrong to do that?

The responsible thing to do is assume SE is telling the truth and to offer a condemnation of those who did it. Trying to weasel out of it does the club's image no favours.

Sounds like Mr Grumpy got out of bed the wrong side this morning! There are very few things left to attack the club on now, so let's go back and dredge up ancient history shall we? And no-one is trying to weasel out of anything, you silly billy, we were never in anything to weasel out of, and if someone was, the culprit could easily have been searched out and given the punishment he deserved at the appropriate time.

But it makes no odds. What's past is past, and the time to have reasonably dealt with it is also gone. That is why it was inappropriate to bring it up last night.

We are gong onwards and upwards, and I arose from my slumbers with a big wide grin on.

Wrong! Mr Grumpy was very happy this morning with the news about the planning application. Why would I attack the club, I've been following them for nearly 30 years?

"And no-one is trying to weasel out of anything, you silly billy."

If you are trying to win an argument don't use the phrase "you silly billy". It makes you sound like you have a mental age of 10.

"We were never in anything to weasel out of"

I refer the right honourable forum member to the following extract from the official website's archives...

"Latest

Margate Football Club in no way condone the behaviour of these individuals who have been making threats, who puport to represent supporters of our Football Club.

Abuse of this type against any member of the Council must stop now and the Club calls upon its true supporters to report immediately any persons they suspect may be involved.

Up the Gate!

21 Jan 2005 by Media"

Note the use of the words "true supporters".
