Slough Town Matchday Programme

Got to say well done Glen, i thought the Slough v AFC Wimbledon programme was bloody excellent, great layout, loads to read and good value for money (and the bloke who wrote the afc piece emailed Glen and said the same).

Now the trick is keeping it up, and that requires you lot helping out. Like someone commiting to the away travel bit - (with maybe a Favourite match moment: for hampton it could be alan devonshire celebrating like he'd lifted the fa cup after the final whistle.)

I need some more nominations for the Meet the Fans piece - i think this could be especially good if people aren't expecting it, open up the programme on their birthdays and see themselves in it.

Email me suggestions info@forestgarden.fsnet.co.uk

What about some people taking on interviewing our newest players?

I will happily do a few of the away travel bits. I intend to go to every match. Let me know which ones you want me to do...

I think our programme looks fine. There's always room for improvement, but I guess budget is often the main restriction.

In terms of ideas, the AFC Wimbledon programme is impressive - although I think that it's a little bit 'them them them' and not much about anyone else (it's like someone telling you how great they are all the time, eventually you get p***ed off).

After watching the FA Cup match between Beaconsfield SYCOB and Windsor & Eton as a neutural supporter last season, I thought their programme was really very good. I don't know if it was a one-off, but the content was superb.

I don't think I've seen (if at all) many programmes who have interviewed the opposition manager. In this particular case Dennis Greene was being interview (I feel sorry for the person who had to speak to him). Maybe that's an idea for ours... interview the opposing manager in the run up to the fixture?

Up the Rebels.

Geoff

I know Glen is trying to use an idea which Hendon use which is to get a supporter of the opposition write an article for the programme. Don't think there was any uptake from Leyton (lack of supporters), the Wombles did one, and I don't think we had anything from Braintree. It's being requested from each club as far as I'm aware, so hopefully we'll see a few more appearing throughout the season.

Thanks to Horsham and Stoke Poges Rebel for their suggestions regarding the matchday programme. Your ideas will be considered for sure, please keep new suggestions/ideas/feedback coming. I have been contacting our opponents in trying to get an article from either one of their supporters or officials. But the response hasn't been great.

Hi Horsham Rebel, If you could get an article from the Horsham chairman that'll be superb! Let me know if he's willing, cheers.

Hi Marcus, I more or less always take the match reports from this website for the programme anyway, so cheers again.

Hi Steve, glad you liked your article! Also thanks to Warren for 'interviewing' you. Please feel free to submit another article if you wish.

Glen,

I sent an email to the secretary at Horsham FC, and received the following response.

We have a desperately complex set up with a Club Chairman and a Board

Chairman. David Hillier is the latter and bores us all rigid with

anorak-like trivia of Slough Town's performances and history, so I'll let

him respond.

Regards.

Jeff Barrett

Now I just have to wait for David Hillier to come back to me.

My colleague's response to Horsham Rebel's email provides ample evidence of the uphill task I face when trying to educate the rough and ready Sussex folk about the finer points of football. I am grateful to Gary for procuring this invitation and will contact him separately about taking forward the arrangements.

Mark Hawthorne is playing very combatively in our midfield at present and Paul Barrowcliff did well for a very experienced Met Police side who beat us comfortably at Queen Street recently.

David Hillier

Chairman, Horsham FC Ltd.
