Wonderful news, heartfelt thanks to the club, Mr Lever, and CK. This is the resolution of, and compensation for all the hardships that a great many people have endured for a very long time.

Doubters, detractors and mud-slingers beware - you cannot touch us now, faith and belief and huge great amounts of bloody hard work have triumphed and now it really is ...

ONWARDS AND UPWARDS!!!!!!!!

There is the Full Council meeting tomorrow. It can still be rejected. I'm also concerned about it going to GOSE. I think this will be another stalling tactic.

I am, like many others ecstatic at this news though we were expecting it this time. I am also in accordance with the above posting from Mr. B.Ware in that it CAN still be held back or refused. But until tomorrow night I am happy. Still got things crossed despite this good news tonight. We havent crossed that finishing line yet but we are getting there!

Good News at the moment, I am confident it will be approved at the full council meeting (well maybe with my fingers crossed!)

I completely disagree there. Councillors do go against the officers recommendation on a number of occasions.

The problem with this application is that the GOSE has already given outline planning permission for this development. Therefore the argument is about the detail. So essentially this is a worthless exercise, despite the fact the report states there are still a lot of issues to be resolved.

Id feel a lot happier about this application passing if there was more debate tonight about it. Last night it was disappointing to see that only 4 councillors asked questions about it. For an application as complex as this I would have expected more.

I bow down to your obvious greater knowledge of council matters James, but I do so hope that the full council meeting will back the plans otherwise it will be a massive kick in the teeth for everyone!

Which just proves my point about councillors and council officers. I've worked in local government and know local politicians (though not in Thanet). The real power does not lie with bog standard councillors.

I can assure you itll get through, since the Council cant really refuse it because permission has basically been given. I would be very suprized if it is refused. It would kick off a battle between TDC and the regional authority, something the Cabinet doesnt need right now.

I do expect more to be said about the effect on the environment tonight though. From the look of the plans, Hartsdown Park will have to be moved a few meters towards Tivoli Park Avenue. The problem there is that the side nearest to TPA is right next to the trees. The plans dont indicate the trees staying there. I dont think it will be unanimous tonight but it will go through. Anyone who wants to vote against it will abstain instead, because this is a leisure development and a refusal vote will look very bad on them.
