Well, the albums that have been listed are:

* Bloc Party – 'Silent Alarm'

* Hard-Fi –'Stars Of CCTV'

* Kaiser Chiefs – 'Employment'

* MIA – 'Arular'

* The Magic Numbers – 'The Magic Numbers'

* Coldplay – 'X&Y'

* The Go! Team – 'Thunder, Lightning Strike'

* Antony And The Johnsons – 'I Am A Bird Now'

* KT Tunstall – 'Eye To The Telescope'

* Maximo Park – 'A Certain Trigger'

* Seth Lakeman – 'Kitty Jay'

* Polar Bear – 'Held On The Tips Of Fingers'

Out of that lot I only have two of the album - The Magic Number and the Go! Team. The Magic Numbers album is OK, but a bit too AOR really, so I'd have to go for The Go! Team - it's a great album.

Fck me what a pretentious pick of albums...

So music isn't supposed to be enjoyable anymore...

I'm afraid I'll have to disagree. The following are all excellent albums in my view:

2004 -- Franz Ferdinand – Franz Ferdinand
2000 -- Badly Drawn Boy - The Hour Of Bewilderbeast
1996 -- Pulp - Different Class
1995 -- Portishead - Dummy
1993 -- Suede - Suede

I wouldn't know about the others, since I don't own them.

I think "Screamadelica" is brilliant, and I like the Portishead album too. I don't own the Pulp one but they were popular at the time, and I don't mind hearing the songs - yer know, tap yer foot along. I did buy the Badly Drawn Boy album but recently gave it to Mrs Zag - not that keen really!

Shouldn't really make it worthy of a 'prestigious' Album of the Year award though, should it!?

Me either. Probably because they're pretentious choices that most average people have never even heard of.
