Tonight's game

Margate Don

Recommended Posts

Score currently 0-0. Large number of triallists playing. Text updates I've recieved:

Number 6 currently a player of note - strong controlling midfielder

Shot by number 15 from a corner taken by number 11 who appears to be a quick left sided midfielder. Mitten having a stormer!

Sounds like a lot of new faces, good to hear Charlie is putting on a good show

Further updates:

Good ball across the 6 yard box from number 11.

Green headed over from another cross.

Number 11 replaced by number 16 who makes storming runs - with step overs -nearly sets up Gradley.

Deflected shot from number 15 saved.

Sounds a bit one-sided but I may of course be getting a biased view!

Can't put much store by PSF's given the number of new faces. After all we lost to Ramsgate last year in first game.

GOAL!! Margate 1 - 0 Tonbridge

Number 15 rounded the keeper and finsihed well.

Quality performance from number 16 (I'm told)

Final Score 1-0

Tonbridge looked OK in first half but outclassed in 2nd.

My man at the match was impressed with triallists wearing numbers 6, 15 and 16 but doesn't know names.

Mitten and Green played well.

i think 6,11,15,16 looked like good players, all i think would be very good players for the gate from what i have seen of em so far.

Charlie very good and safe in goal, not troubled by any shots. Keister, Barnett, Bill, Greenie, Gradley, Moses all played the whole match. Sass on the bench. A lad called Dean was no 11, very promising looking player. Liked 15, 14 and 16, second half substitutes. No 6 looked an experienced player, but a bit hot-headed, and a little unfit - rumoured to be ex Welling.

Greenie and Pat both played a storming game and looked extremely fit and raring to go.

Very neat at the back and defended well, midfield also looked reasonable, but lacked attacking threat up front.

Nice report steve and we certinaly do need to sign green up he is a excellent prospect for the club.

my man of the match had to be pat he was every where some tremedous runs and his passing was superb he looks in far better shape then at the begining of last season, im glad we have resigned him.

Overall I was impressed by the fitness levels and the understanding of the players considering it was the first match and there were 6 or 7 new faces. Thought Tonbridge shaded the first half playing a neat passing game but we took control second half without creating too much though Charlie was the busiest keeper and had a sound game. Of the trialists, Danny Chapman (ex Dover and Welling) the big number 6 looked strong (if a little overweight) and his distribution was good and the no. 15 looked lively and skilful and took his goal well. No 16 Denver Birmingham used to play for us in our Southern League days and looked really composed and comfortable on the ball in midfield when he came on and made some good passes. Not too impressed with the others, though (2,9,11,14) Gradley controlled the midfield and Green also shone with his marauding forays down the left flank. Keister was effective in the sweeper role he has made his own and Barnett and Edwards looked solid if unspectacular in the centre of defence. With Oatsey to come in and hopefully Ross to return all we really need is a goalscorer as we still look a little lightweight up front lacking a physical presence and killer instinct. Shame that Leon has not signed as he could have been the answer and anyone know what has happened to Darren Watson?

All sounds promising to me. Early days yet but looking promising. Glad to hear Gradley had a good game. Result not so important but it does stop Tonbridge from having that unbeaten run which up till tonight they had.

Tend to agree with most of the above.

Danny Chapman(6) impressed-yes a bit excess weight but was still pretty quick and looked solid and comfortable on the ball, in control and a seasoned pro-the ball seemed to find him all the time which was down to his skill.I think a good experienced head and would like to see him signed up.

DeanStanden -also ex Welling i understand added balance on left although not quite so prominent.

I think No 16 was Dexley Fidyk-not Denver Birmingham(unused sub) and also agree he looked decent.

No 15 Jamie Omoragbon-as reported by Steve Wells- but i thought it was SYLVESTER NNARUDI in Omoragbons shirt did look strong ,skillful and quick-best of the strikers on display and could see him being useful alongside another quality striker.Excellently and confidently taken goal but good other play aswell;and not afraid to shout at his team mates.Would love to see him alongside watson, but think DW may have gone elsewhere.

At least i think we will be able to raise a squad when CK settles upon who he wants-11 on pitch tonight, plus 8 others in kit ,Greg Oates somewhere and Annon in the crowd.

Mark green frightens me-so good and so commited -so so hope he signs up-just worried that as he is so committed that he will get another serious injury.

Equally agree that Gradley was best player on pitch.

Funny how the experience of the established players shone through but yes-11,6,15 and 16 all had good contributions.

As reported, Sasha Essenyandoh was an unused sub.and Darren Annon was in the crowd.

Anyone know if Annon is fit and contracted .

Guess we learnt that CK will stick with 5-3-2 with the full backs pushing up,and That JK will be sweeper.

Very encouraged overall-need a quality striker, another midfield player(assuming Chapman signs aswell and a tall youngish central defender with pace

Spoke to Darran Annon before the game. He is making a good recovery, waiting on the calf muscles to develope again. He is hoping to return around the end of september. I thought the fitness levels and the commitment was 1st class tonight. Who ever it was playing in the 15 shirt had good feet. My man of the match had to be Mark Green,he ran and commited 100%from whistle to whistle. before the game tonight i was concerned as to what CK could put together but with the nucleas the Gaaaate has i see us hitting the season running upwards and onwards.
