Idea - From Braintree

"Generous Braintree Town fans are digging deep to help keep their club competitive in the Ryman League.

Supporters have already donated £4,000 to help increase the club's wage bill fund. One single donation of £1,000 has been received by the Iron.

Earlier in the season the club lost two main sponsors and players like Robbie Reinelt and Nicky Simpson had to be sold or released.

Manager Ben Embery was left having to rebuild a side on half the funds compared to other teams in the division.

Director Barry Shepherd said: "It left us in a bad situation and things were not looking good."

"So when someone offers £1,000 to go and buy a player, it leaves you amazed. We have had over £2,000 donated in cash from the fans. Others are setting up standing orders of £10 a month."

Standing orders for money to go direct to STSA? Great idea but doubt it will catch on. Something to pursue as it opens up a lot of avenues.....
