Think that was Stuart Douglas ex Luton and Dagenham striker.

Quick match report.... ...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Headed round the M25 to Canvey so I thought I'd share my thoughts on the first game I've seen this season...

Not a bad start, their keeper made a sharp stop from Pricey and City were holding possession well. Played one up front which became 0 when Mc Phee went off after 25. Price moved up but let's be honest he ain't a striker.

Their keeper was good and made a couple of sharp stops whilst Duke looked better than I remembered. Game was played at a good pace although with no recognised striker we were huffng and puffing up front.

Second half continued in a similar vain,Nicky came on along with Lynch,Ash,St Stu,Leon,Leite and Edge.

Could have been one more. Nicky oozed class, linked everything and even caught their keeper in possession to open the scoring. A typical City "to me,to you" set piece balls up handed them an equaliser they couldn't miss. But then Wiseman was released and coolly slotted. The twinkle toed Leite made a good stop and that was that.

Was impressed with Barmby,Leon,Damien, both keepers,Daws,Woodhouse and particularly Wiseman,it's time to stop thinking about him as just a City promising kid, only Barmby looked better on the ball.He should be a starter, looked great in midfield and is miles better than Stockdale or Joseph as a right back. Pricey was pretty sharp too, liked Andrews gob and organisation but could be a tad negative (think he was called the crab at Wolves!)

No massive negatives although I'm in no hurry to see Stockdale or Joseph start in the Championship.St Stu looked highly uninterested but don't think that'll be a problem when the proper stuff starts. He did hit one corking 40 yard pass to Wiseman.

Good runout and a nice club. Don't know what's up with Mc Phee but strikers are looking thin on the ground.

MOTM Wiseman

Haven't managed to make any of the friendlies yet <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> - but I've noticed that no one seems to have mentioned Nathan Bunce.

Has he had a run out yet and if so - how did he do and who was he lined up with?

Don't think that Bunce is a good player. He might of scored for us against you last season, but he also scored an own goal against Northwich and didn't do much else.

Stuart Douglas and Andy Douglas are brothers I think. Mark Janney came on as a sub with 15 minutes to go and the other trialist was David Shaw who according to the Echo was a former West Ham youngster.

Sedgemore was brilliant, has got to be the next Captain.

I thought it diabolical that young Noto was given barely five minutes especialy when in that five minutes he slotted in some good balls that were nearly converted; I do find it hard to make out what is going on regarding the selection process and what the worth is of sticking player on in the dieing minutes of a game.
