James Saulsbury

Would be very sorry to see him go. A class act. Still, as long as he's not signed for anyone else, he can train with who he likes!

Would be very pleased to see him in our starting line up on Saturday, and think that the excellent training facilities we have at the Polish Club could sway a few players into staying/joining.

Training for someone and playing for someone is very different. For instance Dave Tilbury has been training at Northwood until Windsor's training started up again.

If Saulsbury had trained with Banbury I would have expected to have seen him to be at their game with Swindon Supermarine tonight. Saulsbury was not in the starting XI for Banbury, was not one of their 8 or 9 subs and was nowhere to be found in the stand, around the ground or in the clubhouse.

It could turn out that he does move that way, but based on what I've seen with my own two eyes (a stadium designed by Stevie Wonder, losing 2-0 to the mighty Swindon Supermarine) there could be no benefit to him in joining them apart from perhaps a few more quid a week.

One player who stood out tonight was John Gardner who played on the left wing and was with Thame last season. From what I saw of him in the first 45 minutes, it might be worth Westy giving him a call and seeing what he thinks about linking up with him again at Slough.

Saw James Saulsbury tonight when I went to watch the Staines v's Yeovil game tonight, so went over and had a little chat...

James said he's still very undecided where he will play next season. Obviously as he was watching Staines they have asked him to come down and look around with a view to signing and also Maidenhead <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> are after him as well as others. Seemed like someone with a lot on his mind with a big decision to make, but he did say he went to our last training session, which hopefully is a good sign.

I could *just* about understand if if he went to Staines - although the ground still has the Staines Chavs they have a nice set-up and decent ground. Maidenhead's a step up in a level, but only by default and I still think they will struggle. Their fanbase is not as big as ours, and there away travel is next to non-existant and their manager sells their best players - Craig O'Connor?!. I think it would really disappointing if he left for them. I'm really hoping he will stay with us though as you won't get as friendlier and better support at this level as you do at Slough...

Spence and Murph played for Staines again and Allaway was in the stand and trained before the match. Murph had a good game, but Spence looked a yard behind the pace at times and did not do himself real justice as he is a better player than what he showed. The Staines keeper Courtanage had a blinder (again as he did against Brentford), so Shaun may have trouble getting in the side if he signs for them.

btw Yeovil won 3-1 and had a full-squad including Paul Terry, Efe Sodje, Phil Jevons etc and I went cos I was bored with nowt on tv...

Dennis Greene has listed James in his squad to face Hemel tonight so it looks like he's coming to Maidenhead.

On the point about Craig O'Connor - don't all clubs apart from Chelsea sell their best players? The move was good financially for Craig as well as allowing him to further his career at one of the promotion favourites. Given your financial position and league status, isn't James doing the same?

Steve,

I've no gripe against Maidenhead. I actually go to watch a few of their games when we don't play. I just think (and of course i'm totally bias) that we are the better option and think Maidenhead will struggle. I actually hope you don't, but i'm not too convinced by some of Mr Greene's signings with a team that struggled last season anyway.

As for Craig O'Connor, yes they do sell their players, but from what I read he was on a one-man mission to keep Maidenhead up so it seems strange to sell in my opinion.
