Guy on Talksport who used to do the Spanish football was raving about Baptista the other day. The guy seems to know his stuff.

He must be on a relatively crap wage now then, as I can't see Arsenal offering more than £80-100k per week.

 

Of course, there's no way he'll join Spurs when Arsenal are offering him Champions League football.

 

But even if we lose, it's good to be back bidding against the biggest clubs once again.

Spurs are the 13th richest club in the world, mate. One of our directors has £2bn in the bank. Alan Sugar, still at the club, has three-quarters of a billion.

 

Someone made an interesting point on the Spurs message forum... perhaps Frank Arnesen is negotiating this Baptista deal for Spurs so that Arsenal don't get him, therefore making life easier for his new employers at Stamford Bridge!!

Seville apparently say they'll only sell to highest bidder, which is encouraging.

 

Hell, who am I trying to kid? This Brazilian is supposedly the best player in Spain last season. He's not coming to Spurs!!

I thought it had- but this news is an "exclusive" in the "current bun"- apparently Baptista had no intention of joining Spurs and the Spaniards have agreed a compromise deal with Arsenal - £12.5M- up from their original £11.5M.

 

I'm not really that fussed anyway- we look alright in the forward department as far as I can see and Keano might stay.

 

We'd be better off spending the money elsewhere- a high quality left sided player for example.
