Tottenham striker Robbie Keane insists he is ready to fight for his place in the team next season.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a possible move out of White Hart Lane after a bust-up with Martin Jol last term.

The likes of Everton, Newcastle and Manchester City are all thought to be monitoring Keane's situation at Spurs.

It has been suggested that Keane was considering his future at Tottenham because he was unhappy with the club's rotation policy, but the Irishman accepts everyone must fight for their place in Jol's plans.

"No one is guaranteed a spot in the first game of the season so it is up to us all to do well in pre-season and work our socks off," said Keane.

"That is all we can do. Then it is up to the gaffer to pick the side - and it is up to us to give him a headache."

In the Evening Standard yesterday they had a piece on Mido. He's lost two stone and is well up for this season.

 

If he is properly fit, then I reckon he could be a class act.
