I make it as from right to left from back with ??? where I'm not 100%- Thorstvedt ,Chris Hughton???, Paul Allen, Samways, Mabbutt, Walsh, Gazza, Fairclough???, Paul Stewart,Ardiles,Waddle,John Chiedozie?

You have Paul Allen and Samways correct, but the wrong way round.

 

Mabbs, Walsh and Gascoigne are all correct, as are Paul Stewart and Chris Waddle!

 

So... two on the back row, two on the middle row, and one on the front row to get.

 

Oh, and the Santa, of course!!

The black guy in the middle row currently plies his trade in the non-league, I think.

Pat Van den Hauwe might be the player furtherest on the right in the middle row. Also a bit of a long shot is the keeper Clemence?

 

I could of course cheat and look up Spurs Greats but that wouldn't be right.

Blimey Brian Statham- did he actually play any games for us?

 

Proof that time really does heal all- I'd forgotten about Bobby Mimms and the less said about Terry Fenwick the better.

Statham played 40-odd games for us in total between about 1988 and 1990. As did Guy Butters!

 

It's fair to say we were slightly struggling for quality full-backs in the late 80s!!

 

Fenwick had a reasonable 88/89 season, scoring about 10 goals, but they were mainly (possibly all?) from the penalty spot.

 

Anyone remember Paul Stewart's debut against Man Utd?

 

One-all into injury time. Spurs are awarded a penalty. Stewart grabs the ball from Fenwick, who had been successfully taking all other penalties this season.

 

Blasts it against the bar!

 

Mr Stewart didn't take any more penalties for us that season!

 

Bobby Mimms... mmm.. didn't have the best time between the sticks in his two years at the club, did he?

 

Then again, his replacement Erik Thorstvedt let the ball through his fingers on his debut and we subsequently lost 1-2 to Forest. Mimms must have thought his luck was back in.

 

Still - Mimms has got a Premiership title to his name (Blackburn '95). Not sure any of the other Spurs 88/89 players can say that!

Yeah remember it well. I had just got into football then so the live match on ITV on a Sunday was a bit of a an event for me.

Of course Guy Butters was back down the lane again last season which is surprising that I know that as I only know aout toilet non-league defenders <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
