Please do not dismiss me as just another stupid anon!! I have a perfectly reasonable question to ask to maybe Cookie, who is well up on the betting odds etc.I would like to know what odds you could get on Margate being relegated at the end of the season, and Ramsgate being promoted.Unlikely maybe but possible. What do you think. No abuse please!!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

Although I have 14 years experience as a bookmakers manager (hence my interests in the betting industry) to my credit, I am not an odds compiler. That is done by those that know the score and weigh up evidence that will allow the odds to be made. I only go by the odds that the firms lay. I look around for the best odds and luckily I have a local bookmaker/friend who allows me the best odds available from a large range of bookmaking firms. So sorry, I wont be able to help you.

Maybe someone with better knowledge of compiling odds can help you. If its my own personal opinion then in truth, and without bias, and this is no dig at the Rams, I would favour Margate to be in the top 6 and sorry Ramsgate fans, but I really do think you will find it tough this year therefore I can imagine a quick return to whence you came.

Thats not a slur in the sense that I think they are crap because I am sure they arent but the sudden rise from the Kent League I feel will find them out.

Although new faces have been brought in I dont feel they are of the standard that will do them justice this season. I may well be proved wrong on all counts but without actually giving odds, I feel that the "Gate" will finish in the top 6 and the Rams will be relegated. If someone can find me the odds for the latter I would be truly grateful, though I think none of the big bookmakers will oblige especially at this early stage, what with the unknown,as it stands.

As the season hasn't started yet & more signings will be made and once the season unfolds the picture will suddenly become clearer all round and a better assessment can be made.

I will ask around and see what I can come up with but for now I cant help with actual odds but only give a personnal opinion.

As for giving out 4 letter words. That only goes to idiotic posts and I dont regard the questions put as idiotic.I dont always bite you know.In fact if you knew me you would see that in reality I am but a pussycat.

Sorry I couldnt be of more help at this time.

p.s. (I fully expect this post to come back and haunt me later in the year should my opinions be way out so I am prepared for that but I really will stand by my predictions nevertheless. Everyone-one knows what a good predictor I am!) NOT!

[color:"blue"]With regard to the question, I'd say it'll be a lot tighter than has been suggested. I think that Ramsgate should do quite well in the Ryman 1st - there are a lot of teams who regularly struggle in mid-table without money or ambition, but would expect Dover to bounce straight back up given the experience Clive Walker has been able to add to his squad from last season. Last season Cray Wanderers showed there was not too high a step to climb from the Kent League to that level in the Non League pyramid.

As for us, I'd say it's too early to call, we only have four players confirmed so far, I was a little disappointed to read this weekend of Chris saying he's looking for a squad of 16-17 with some youth players to help out. 16-17 of the quality signed to date plus youth is OK, but 16-17 including would be last seasons squad. Let's not also forget that promoted sides, AFC Wimbledon and Fisher along with the likes of Braintree and Chelmsford have big budget backing & we have a CVA to pay off.

I think Ramsgate are definite top six material. Cray kept virtually the same squad when they went up and did well, Ramsgate have bought well and added to what they had already, I don't see any reason why they won't have a good season. Mark Munday is a great signing for them and you can practically guarantee 10 goals from him, Cory's scored goals at that level before and there seems to be a good team spirit. Good luck to them.
