Story: Concord Rangers (0) 2 Brant 55, (pen) 68 Enfield Town (0) 0

Saturday 14 September 2002

All good things must come to an end, and Enfield Town saw their 100% record snatched from them this afternoon at Thames Road. Town looked comfortable early on, even surviving the loss of Adam Gant on 29 minutes with a groin strain. Bradley Poole came as the replacement and Town reshuffled their line-up. Daniel Clarke and Rudi Hall were forging a good partnership up front and with Daniel Alleyne in support they looked capable of making the breakthrough. Concord's veteran keeper Stuart Meade had other ideas however, pulling off a fine save to tip over an Alleyne header on 40 minutes.

Town were slow to get started in the second half, and it was to prove costly. Lee Brant drifted in to fire home on 55 minutes as Town failed to deal with an inswinging free-kick from deep on the left. Concord had chances to increase their lead before being awarded a penalty on 68 minutes after Bradley Brotherton was adjudged to have fouled Guiver. Brant took the spot-kick and beat Andy Hall, although the Town keeper had guessed the right direction. Town boss Jim Chandler made a double substitution soon after, bringing on Neil Couling and James Bunn who started to make inroads along the left. It was all to no avail though, the biggest scare for Concord being when Meade pushed an inswinging corner from Bunn around the post.

Concord Rangers: Meade, Atkinson, Brown, Goodwin, Reece, Wastell, Guiver, Greaves, Heale (capt), Brant, Harrison. Subs (all unused); Harris, Burton, Barham. Booked: Brant.

Enfield Town: A Hall, Watson (Couling 72), M St Hilaire, Gant (Poole 29), Brotherton, Allen, R Hall (Bunn 72), Snowsill, Clarke, Snowden (capt), Alleyne.

Att: 150

Dear Mr. Oliver

I can't remember any occassions when a team has one a senior level football league without losing at least once. The only time this has happened (and I don't remeber it cos I wasn't alive then) was back in the 1890s when Preston North End achieved this feat.

Here's looking forward to ETFCs thrashing of Ilford next week!! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif" alt="" />
