Fifa and the offside rule

Well, it seems the officials at Fifa HQ have got bored again and "improved" the offside rule, to clarify who is interfering with play. So you are now only offside if (whilst in an offside position obviously) you touch the ball, deliberatly block a player, block a player's eyeline(?!), or the ball comes off a defending player or woodwork and you have an advantage. Does this spell the end of any kind of offside trap now? Also how late are some of those lino's flags going to be???

As long as they are right I don't care how late the flag goes up. I also hope people remember the 'ball comes off a defending player or woodwork' part.

Why do Fifa keep changing the off-side rule and confusing everybody. Its about time we went back to basics and declared anybody in an offside position as being offside, regardless of wether they are interfering or not. Bill Shankley once said something like 'if there's a player of mine out there who is not interfering with play - WHAT THE **** IS HE DOING OUT THERE!'.

I must interject. you mustnt refer to them as lino's or linesmen anymore. The Express today claimed that they have been renamed...assistant referees. Reckon this has anything to do with the ending "men"?
