From the Welling v Charlton friendly report, game took place last night...

Welling United manager Adrian Pennock announced the signing of Margate striker Che Stadhart following his side's resilient draw against Premiership neighbours Charlton Athletic at a packed Park View Road tonight, writes Stephen McCartney.

Stadhart, who joined Margate from Gravesend & Northfleet in June 2003, has tonight agreed terms with Pennock and has signed a one-year deal with the Nationwide Conference South club.

"Che has signed tonight, we've agreed everything and I'm very pleased to have him on board," the Wings' boss told www.kentishfootball.co.uk after the game.

"I've signed him as he's a natural goalscorer and he's played in this division and higher, and scores goals for fun.

"He will give me that extra option as we've got James Pinnock and Danny Kedwell now and with Che there is competition for places."

A good player but didn't shine in the conference.

In my opinion the best partnership over the last 5 or so years was phil collins and braithwaite. With the exception of syko ofcourse.

This article says he has signed for them. Is it wrong?

LEON Braithwaite, the vastly experienced former Dagenham & Redbridge striker, is set to spearhead Ilford FC's charge in their first Southern League Div 1 East season.

Braithwaite, 34, who supplied 22 goals to last season's successful title-winning campaign for Fisher Athletic, will join the Foxes, despite Ilford boss Allan Fenn claiming he has one of the lowest budgets with which to operate at his club's new standard.

"With Leon it's not about money. He is big pals with our vice-chairman Mel Attwell and has said he would like to play for us before his career is over. Now we are in the Southern League, this is the opportunity we've both been waiting for,'' said Fenn.

The capture of Braithwaite, a proven goalscorer at Conference level with Welling and Margate, who also played for Exeter when they were a Football League club, would be a real coup for Ilford.

Former Daggers boss Garry Hill signed him two seasons ago, but Braithwaite didn't have the best of times at Victoria Road and moved to Fisher after an injury-hit season.

The signing of Braithwaite will help outweigh the loss of the Foxes' twin spearhead of last season.

That article is all over the net but I don't think it's quite what it appears, while there's "will join" and "will help outweigh the loss" there's also "is set to" and "would be a real coup". Bit of a mix but the bottom line is that the Ilford site only says he's training with them and I've heard he's training with us. My money's on him being Che's replacement.

Im with ya too anon. Ive also heard that he's been training with us and I think IMO he'd be a good signing. We would need someone with good height to feed him. If watson could be fully fit he would do the job. I wonder, is this ck's plan. I know you may say 'what about rocky?'. Well It wouldn't surprise me if he left. He's a well travelled player and IMO didn't play that well last season. Too many missed chances!

Though Che is a big strong lad with plenty of heart i think the next to last paragraph of the report goes a little over the top. what was his goal to chance rate last season?.I was laughed at earlier, when i suggested an advert in the belgium/french/dutch/english soccer press for a open trial day for any players who want a game. You never know what gems CK might uncover. The club can offer on site accomodation in the form of a caravan park. Is there any one in the u18 set up who could step up into the squad,it would certainly give that area of the club a boost. Come on the Gaate upwards and Onwards.

I was speaking to a guy who is friends with a man who know's JK and if its true ck will be taking a good look at some unknown young african players who are rated very highly by john in the coming pre-season games.
