Team Formation 2005/6

I think we wil all be happy to hear a load more of last years players have signed.

For me, Green and Ross Smith and Gradley in particular.

I guess it depends who signs ultimately, but i wonder whether CK may just go for 4-4-2 this season.

If Smith and Green sign, the defence should be strong enough to play with 4 leaving CK more freedom to bolster midfield.

I'd be very happy with a deensive back 4 line up of

Mitten,

Oates,Barnett Smith and Green..

Annon as cover or even midfield, with JK also in midfield.

Jk could maybe play first half in midfield and then if we were either winning or under cosh and away from home, switch to sweeper in second half.

If you have 4 defenders good enough, with a decent midfield in front they are just as effective as 5 ,so i'd love to see CK start with 4-4-2.

Ah, it's that time of year again - the one where people naively think that CK will play anything other than 5-3-2. No chance.

Did you have some kind of childhood trauma that's led you to think Bill Edwards is rubbish Michael? Never seen you pick a side with him in it when you've come up with teams on here. Then again you think that Paul Abbott is Britain's greatest living midfielder...

Hi Anon,

Appreciate the keen attention to the posts.

A bit ott, and no i do not think Bill is R. but i do think we have seen the best of him,and that was very good; but there comes a time for all of us.

I do think with the correct coaching Paul Abbott would have been and could still be an extremely good player;although i only saw him in 3 gate games and one Erith game.

If we have a strong defence of supposedly above Ryman quality, i do think CK may consider alternative formation;as maybe he has played this way because we have in the main been the underdog.

In fairness, in second half of season CK was playing 3-5-2 most of time, but i always felt that Greg -when fit-played too far upfield, and a good old fashioned solid defence is reqd.

Forgive me for coming on a footbal forum and talking football topics, but its only 4 days to go and i feel the sap rising

back to the armchair -its always easy and i win every game from there -yours Ron Manager
