do the officials of the essex senior league actually produce fixtures in advance,i thought that all the players just turned up somewhere and were sent to play in different parks after drawing lots, such is the organisation i have heard of over the last few weeks.

Tradition is that all 16 teams and sets of officials meet up at the Halfway House at 12.30pm on the first Saturday of the season.

They all are met there by the fixture secretary who issues details of all the games and allocates the officials to those games.

Then everyone races off to their appointed ground and gets on with the business.

By the way everyone HAS to kick off at 3 p.m.

Excuses such as bad accidents en route, cows on the road, driver getting lost, convenience stops etc are not acceptable and fines WILL be issued to those clubs whose matches do NOT start on the dot of 3p.m.

So BE warned!

P.S. If you think that's chaotic. The following Saturday is even worse!

Apologise if this has already been asked but does anybody know when the fixtures for 2005/2006 are being released???

For those who may have missed it.... (note the dates are not quite right!)

Early Start for League
Due to the FA Cup starting on Saturday 21st. August, the Westview Essex Senior League has taken the decision to start a week earlier this season on Saturday 14th. August so that clubs may get a couple of matches "under their belts" before being required to play in the most prestigious cup competition in the world. In annoucing this date, Fixture Secretary Len Llewellyn also announced that the League would finish on Saturday 29th. April 2006. In a change from recent seasons, the fixtures for the competition will be produced en bloc for the whole season and will be available late in July. However, groupings for the League Cup were made on the evening of the AGM along with the first round draw for the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy, the Final of which will again be held on Easter Saturday or Easter Monday at Burnham Ramblers' Leslie Field Ground. Details of this cup draw and the groupings in the League Cup are available on the respective pages "unscheduled fixtures" pages on this website.
