Whats Your Top 5 Song Of All Time.....

Recommended Posts

Liam Gallagher said in a interview that if he was somewhere inbetween John Lydon and John Lennon in terms of voice then he would be very happy.

Not sure if you can use this as an influence.

I gotta disagree - i think alot of the so-called "alternative" bands of the 1980s/early 90s would cite the Sex Pistols, and more importantly punk, as influences . Making them want to pick up guitars, form bands and make music. I remember reading interviews by bands such as The Cult and The Jesus and Mary Chain, as well as many others, saying stuff like this. I don't think that the Killers, Coldplay, Kaiser Chiefs would cite Led Zep as a major influence - but they clearly were/are on a lot of bands and sounds around.

Maybe it's difficult to imagine if you don't rate the music? Not sure? The Sex Pistols compared to alot of the underground punk stuff is quite melodic - you've got now-a-days bands like Velvet Revolver doing a cover version of Bodies (from Nevernind the B*llocks). But on the whole I do agree it was the whole punk movement that had the most influence. All good for me!

Thank you Zag for backing me up, and I bet The Kiaser Cheifs are influenced by them. Whether you like the Pistols or not (and I'm with G.Angle there are loads of better punk bands about) as the biggest band of that era they are going to influence more people, like The Beatles would of influenced more people than The Stones but I bet plenty of people would cite The Stones better.

And PiL were better than the Pistols

I see that bint in The Sun has finally clocked onto Hard-Fi saying "I saw this lot last night and I predict they are going to be massive", excuse me love they've already had a Top 10 single and album.
Of course some of us brought the debut single "cash machine" as we were already in the know
