The scent of a man...

Yeah, you're right. The 80s rocked.

Thornsy's 80s were ruined though, by Maggie Thatcher.

I'm currently studying the 87/88 season. We finished 13th - so no changes there, then.

We lost a lot of players after the 87 Cup Final. Hoddle and Ardiles both moved on, and Clemence retired early in 87/88.

Clive Allen only scored 13 goals in 87/88 compared to his record-breaking 49 the previous season.

Actually, 87/88 was when Pleat was found crawling the curbs of Luton, and El Tel took over in the November.

We signed Fairclough and Metgod pre-season (Metgod was meant to be the next Hoddle, but he failed miserably), and mid-season, around February, we signed Paul Walsh.

Got a feeling Chelsea were relegated that season too.

Yeah, right at the end of his career - late 80s.

An excellent player in his fay, Garth Crooks. I saw him play on many an occasion.

He scored a brilliant header in the first ever Spurs match I went to - February 1982 vs Wolves. We won 6-1! Think he got a hat-trick. I was six!

That was also the first game with our new West Stand.
