rumours are that he and another former Fleet fave ( Well fave of mine anyway) are training down at Farnboro.

Don't think Perks was in the Farnboro' team today that beat Reading 2 - 1.

But the other former Fleet man currently at Farnboro Ben Abbey set up the first and scored the winner.

A fine goal - although probably made to seem a little better than it was by the fact that we were right behind it, and so got a great view of the shot's swerve away from the diving keeper. Nevertheless, possibly Fleet goal of the season for 2003/2004, with Miller's at Hereford in close contention.

I'd like to see Perks back, we really missed his creativity last year.

On a side note, is it not worth us exploring the possibility of taking some players on season long loan deals from a championship club as Forest Green have done rather than paying a transfer fee to Farnboro for a goalkeeper who we dont even know will be our number one?

I thought I'd heard Daish say he wanted to full time Goalkeepers? So we need to pay a transfer fee for someone thats not going to be our number one.

Eh? I don't know he'll be number one, but then I didn't say he would be. I also didn't say he wouldn't.

My point was Daish said that he wanted two full time goalkeepers, he has Kerr now he needs another one. In order to get that other one he'll have to buy him, if he does that he'll have bought two goalkeepers (although I don't think he paid a fee for Kerr) and one of them will be on the bench while the other one plays in goal.

Alledgely the Fleet have not returned his calls, so looks unlikely that we will see him next season,despite an apparent eagerness to resign him after Fordys testimonial.

PS He scored both Welling goals against Bromley tonight.

 

By my reckoning Welling had 8 ex Fleet in their starting line up tonight, and thats without Che who was out injured !
