Although it is Flag-esquely bad form to reply to your own post, apparently we had 26 players turn up to the first couple of training sessions, so clearly a number of triallists about as well as the 15 or so already confirmed for next season. Injury wise Ben Price is likely to be out until September with a foot injury but other than that we are all up and running and raring to go (including Hockers). We also have a new member of the first team coaching staff whose name embarrassingly escapes me with Matt Jones now Asst manager to Justin.

League fixtures are due out next week.

I believe it was considered but with Chelmsford still being here it was felt with first team, Chelmsford and under 18 football the pitch just couldn't handle all the games. Not sure whether we may consider a reserve team next year if Chelmsford do finally move on.

John Simmons has a first team contract this season so if the management consider you good enough the opportunity is still there. Also being part of an under 18 championship winning team would look decent on the CV so there should be little difficulty moving on to a fair standard of football for most of the players I saw at under 18 level last season.

Chelmsford will not be playing at New Lodge next season, regardless of their situation.

A decent reserve side will need Satuday Football.
So next season it's a real possibility. I would have thought that most of last years U18s could get a game in the lower leagues. They proved that in the cup games they played.

A season or two in a lower league never did Nathan Elder any harm. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Let's hope we can host you at home in Chelmsford in the 2nd half of the season.

If Riccay are obliged to travel to Chelmsford would away (and home) supporters please bear in mind the size of the (8 lane) track at Melbourne Park and remember to beg/borrow/steal some binoculars or other optical enhancement. This is particulary relevant to those fans who like to stand behind the goal as not only is there a track to peer over but a rather large high jump and throwing area as well. Mmmmmmm nice.
