Saturdays Game

I thought that we started off quite brightly but could not break down the well organised defence and the longer the game went on the more ineffective we became.

I could not really understand why Gary and Steve changed the midfield around so much when this has been one of the strong parts of the team in recent weeks.

Rob Smith has been in great form recently giving us width on the left but he was played more in the centre and looked out of sorts and he had a bit of a nightmare.

Rob Keene was playing really well on the right but was moved to the left presumably to accomodate Scott Oakes and as a result he didn't look comfortable.

Scott Oakes hasn't really looked comfortable on the right side of midfield all season but I thought that he looked excellent playing in the centre when he came on against Kingstonian. Maybe he could have provided the quality through the middle to open up a well organised defense whilst allowing the more effective wide players to get round the back of the defenders.

Actually, I don't normally analyse performances like this but it seemed a bit obvious from where I was standing.

I'm not complaining, we're still top of the league. Roll on Wednesday.

I like that team, the problem we have at the moment is Evans after a few very good games is starting to [****!!****] up again so lets take him out the firing line for a bit, while smith has played really well in midfield but is starting to show as a left winger playing out of position, he keeps drifting over to the left. Hollenbach must play as he's now in EFM and hes class!

This isn't any critism of anyone so far, we just seems dis-jointed on saturday with players playing out of position, it shows what a class team we have when you see who is on the bench and who can't even make it.

I think we should look to release sippets on enfield earlier as well.

Townley has for me been a revelation, I had my doubts in pre-season, but along with Becks, has probably been our best and most consistent player this season. Leon isn't in the Gould mode and therefore doesn't charge forward at every opportunity, he only goes up when there is sufficient cover, and has been superb at the back with Corey.

Hmmnn.

I wouldn't dream of commenting upon team selection.

I think that Evo gets married on Saturday and he is then on honeymoon for a couple of weeks. So 3 or 4 at the back? It has to be 4. Gould or Ryan at right back?

Or....Naylor or Campbell at left back to make room for City's first million pound player? Or...

Wilmot; Ryan, Townley, Campbell, Naylor; Keen, Oakes, Challinor, Hollenbach; Martin, Crawshaw.

Subs: Brown, Smith, Gould, Sippetts, Roberts D.

Dead easy, this management lark. I don't know why they make such a meal of it. Pressure? They should have my job.
