London Events

Recommended Posts

Let me be the first to post my shock at what has happened in london today. I heard the whole thing unfold on the radio at work right from unconfirmed reports of an explosions possibly caused by a power surge. Im sure we all pass our sympathies onto those affected.

What a surreal day, supposed to be one of celebration of the london bid success.

Shocking. Two people i work with had family either working in the effected train stations or on the tube at the time. Guests at Legoland were trying to contact people in London. Have to agree very Surreal but London's had alot worse in the past and it will only get stronger from these attacks.

Totally agree my thoughts go out to all the families affected by this awful tragedy.

It's beem a very strange 48 hours. Great news about the successful olympic bid yesterday, and yet just 24 hours later the sad tradgedy that evolved in London.

I'm not the most patriotic of people when it comes to my country(you won't see me jumping up and down at the tv and kissing my England shirt when we play on TV), but when it comes to individuals pulling together like the way the outstanding emergency services did today, dealing with four major incidents in the space of less than one hour, the way people have in general have dealt with today's events and the way the Britain pulled together yesterday to see off the French and claim the 2012 olympics, it makes you proud to be British.

My Dad was very near to one of the explosions and he said it was apostolate chaos, luckily he was fine.

Was going to go to Liquid tonight but was told that police are everywhere in Windsor and are searching people, we were told at Lego that the castle was shut earlier.

I though Tony Blair was superb today, he showed the attributes of a real leader.

as a lefty through and through i'd agree, sent out all the right messages today, praising the emergency services, flying straight back to london, and making sure the G8 summit continues despite the devestating disruption...good on the man

The people who did this are scum, but unfortunately this sort of attack has been on the cards since Blair joined with Bush in the 'war on terror.'

Last October a paper published in The Lancet, the respected British medical journal, estimated that at least 100,000 Iraqi civilians may have died because of the U.S. invasion. Thousands more innocent people have died in Afghanistan. Isn't killing innocent civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan also terrorism?

I also agree Chris about it being heartening to hear stories about people pulling together yesterday - i wish it would happen more often, instead of people turning a blind eye when people are in trouble.

Blair said we had to go to war against Saddam cos he was a threat to Britain and had weapons of mass destruction.

He wasn't and he didn't. That's not to say he wasn't a murdering [****!!****], but one which we had supported when he was fighting Iran (a war in which one million people died).

The war was about oil - thousands have died because of that war. Innocent civilians kiled, families ripped apart exactly the same as happened in London yesterday. I can't see the difference.

And yes, i know this has nothing to do with football.

Not knocking you Warren, as I respect your views and I too found Iraq extremely worrying. With the benefit of hindsight, it was wrong, though I don't agree it was about oil. Can't say the same about Afganistan though. By refusing to deal with the 9/11 terrorists, they gave the Yanks no option but to go in. It might be better to continue this on http://www.sloughobserver.com/forum/ (requires registration). Regards.

Nope he's still a two faced scum bag!

Why d'you say that? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Because its a cast iron fact. The man has more faces than a special 16 number dice, and is about as sincere as Pol Pot stating "I had no idea we had people in those big holes" He sickens me to the very core, and if he appears on my tv much more i will have to have it disinfected!
