Ground and pitch

Nice to see the rain doing its job on the turf. Its looking much greener now and its getting there. Even saw the mower in action today.

Word is that other things will be happening this week and early next week. Fencing for one will be on the agenda for the coming fortnight. All in all things looking bright with the ground and everything is in hand.

Didnt see anyone apart from Ray tending his grass.Saw about 5 foreign guys sitting around.Hopefully, and I assume, they were having a break and not on a 24 hour tea-break. No-one else working away and as far your question goes I couldnt see all round the pitch concerning your query but am sure in the course of the next 14 days a lot will have been done to answer your question in full.

NO! And dont rule out a deal where we may have to use Southwood for a month or two in the league if allowed to. That dosent mean that things arent on track but it may just need a few more weeks I think for the pitch to be absolutely ready for playing on. Just my opinion by the way just my personnal opinion.

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought any further groundsharing was out of the question! Let's hope the "builders" get off their lazy backsides and get the job done. We need a foreman on site to crack the whip methinks! Only 6 weeks left. GET A MOVE ON!!!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

Called at the ground with my lad this afternoon just as it started to pour clear nectar from the heavens. all i saw was green grass (brown patches getting less)and workers running for shelter. A couple of them were shouting in english and there looked to be more than last week.

I don't think we need worry over much, we were worried about the pitch last week but that's well on the way. The club's last news said all was on track, I trust them to know more about that than us. I am guessing that the erections pending, (stands and so forth), will be going up once the concreting is done and set, and delivery of the ordered items taken. The club must have been given lead times for these, and they are probably timing things to those deadlines.

Onwards and upwards from the ground up, I reckon.

Going to Southwood is ONLY a possibility. (A possibility within my own mind). Thats what I said or rather I said dont rule it out. As for groundsharing I wasnt aware that we COULDNT groundshare again, or at lease just for a month. I know groundsharing with Ashford was a no-no but didnt think other groundshare had been ruled out altogether. Even if it has then there may be a concession perhaps where in our situation, we would possibly be allowed to share, and who's ground would be best to share with other than at Southwood. Again It is only MY thoughts and only a POSSIBILITY so dont lets get carried away with this one shall we. Am sure that everything has been thought of and that everything is going according to plan anyway so please make light of my remarks.

[color:"blue"]I'd like to think that we'll see just one PSF @ Hartsdown before we get down to the Real Stuff ... after all everything is said to be on schedule & the original schedule was to have Bill's testimonial to re-open the Stadium before the new season starts. Though that's probably just me looking at the whole situation from a my glass is half full point of view.

What is all this about starting the season at Southwood? The club have said that everything is on target. We have 6 weeks to go. The floodlights are not due to be delivered for another two weeks along with the seats. All the seats need is for a hardstanding to be in place which will take a couple of days. They are complete when delivered and are bolted into place. I presume that the lights will be the same with a concrete hardstanding being required. The changing rooms etc are temporary and again will be arriving on the backs of lorries and so no building work is required, apart from hard standing and temporary drainage. The Hartsdown stand needs some work, but how much can they do on it, its not like its falling apart. That only leaves the pitch perimiter and ground fences to finish. That means that with those items arriving in two weeks that the builders have that time to carry out the preparatory work. I can see a big change in two weeks time when everything will arrive and fall into place. DON'T PANIC COOKIE.

MS, whos panickng? I KNOW that this is an option that COULD be used. I say COULD thats all. I go to the ground nearly every other day and believe me I KNOW what is being said on the quiet. I am not saying this will happen by any means and I re-iterate again that this is just my opinion of what COULD happen at the worst bearing in mind some whispers I hear. It does seem by your post MS that it is not me that is panicking. I am more than aware of how the ground is coming along and there is no panic being set in by me. This a forewarning of what COULD affect us in the short-term which in itself doesent put us into a panic mode in any case. Either way, at HP or SW we will be starting the new season in our own back-yard rather than away in far off places. Definately no panic here MS. Its something I think we should all be aware of thats all. I dont come on here and give info like this unless I have SOME kind of inside knowledge. Its only a last resort but nevertheless should the pitch not be in tip top condition its something that is being mused over. Thats a FACT!! Better to have a couple of games at SW rather than play on our new pitch too early and F*** it up for the future.
