Having players like Henty and Rantala on the bench is called strength in depth - we've been lucky so far this season in that we've not had multiple injuries in the same position - McDonald (defense) Brennan (mid) and Fewings (att) are the only players to have missed games through injury. To be honest none of Henty, Rantala or Forrester would have been in my XI to play Hayes.

i have to agree with mark on his posting before i to hope that young scotty doesnt leave as to me he looks a very good prospect.george borg has already stated that scott has the natural abilty to be the best forward in non league football.and i also saw the 25 yard volley he done before the game that went top corner!! but that aside he does have real talent,to be honest i think he has had a fall out with gary or george, and thats the reason hes not even on the bench. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/argue.gif" alt="" />

May I suggest to 'cum on ricay' that you spell cum, COME, for obvious reasons! As for Scotty Forrester, I think he's down the pecking order at the moment. Both Fewings and Essendoh are gonna take some shifting from the forward position. Saying that he's hardly had a chance to jump on the centre forward merry-go-round. A good back-up, hope he stays.

i agree that the young players should be given a chance to do well but i think forrester has had every chance..he started the season as first choice missed a couple of chances and in one game (against aylesbury i think when he came on as sub) he almost seemed to give up having been beaten to the ball by some ageing centre half..i would certainly have essandoh n fewings (and baker?) ahead of him presently and think he has a long way to go to match jamie s enthusiasm coming (not cuming) off the bench..i'm a firm believer that the reserves should have the chance to progress to the first team squad if they do well and think forrester should have a couple of games in there to prove to the management he really wants it.

im not convinced he s good enough but would be more than happy to be proved wrong.

Saw Forrester at Bedford in the stands, looking pretty unhappy with the world. His problem is that he really has very little to offer the team, like many of the strikers that have come to Billericay in the last few seasons. Sure he is quick and yes, in a kickabout before the game with the ball at his feet he looks magic.

From what I have seen though he lacks the ability (or perhaps confidence/composure) to either deliver the final ball or finish off moves, a little like Bubb (Who was exactly the same at Bristol Rovers and QPR) - he can do the frilly bits and when it comes to ball juggling and skills he is a far superior player to Fewings, Jamie, Essandoh and even Baker, but he simply isn't effective yet. He has obviously got bags of potential and is still a young guy but needs to knuckle down in the reserves and score a few goals before he can seriously look to challenge for a first team spot.

If you look at the striking situation generally, I reckon we need four in the squad to give cover for injuries and allow everyone to get a game. Fewings and Essandoh would be a good first choice two, don't think anybody would dispute that. Wallace has impressed this season with his attitude - willing to sit on the bench for 60mins each saturday and turn out for the reserves when they play. He has also been able to get invovled in the game as soon as he comes on - something i don't think Forrester is able to do. Calder has made no secret of the fact he wants to bring in someone else up front, probably a paceman hence the likes of Bubb and Charles and the attempts to bring back Stafford Browne. I reckon Forrester would be well advised to get some experience at a div 1 club where he could get 1st team footy week in week out.

Isn't it good that we can have this discussion about our fourth choice striker? Can't remember the last time we had four strikers at Billericay!

Here is another example of the Management team keeping the fans in the dark. The only information the fans get about players is from Robert Moore's column in the Gazette. There is never anything new for the fans in Gary's column in the programme about the players. The supporters are giving a lot this year, look at the support at the away matches, let's have something in return from the management team. It's only an e-mail to Simon W - it happens when there is a big signing, let's have it on a regular basis.

Can't agree there, he came off the bench and scored for the shots

six times, many were winners. I rated him highly and was sorry to see him go. I think it's a case of pro clubs

releasing players, and youngsters not getting the chance because

of pressure to win games. Your doing the same as we did to him.

Might want to check your facts there:

Looking at my "Ryman league Statistical Review" Scott scored those 6 league goals in

i) a 4-0 win over Braintree

ii) a 3-0 win over Hitchin

iii) a 4-1 win over Purfleet

iv) a 3-2 win over Harrow

v) a 4-1 win over Hampton

vi) a 1-1 draw with Hampton

Only 2 goals had any effect on the outcome of the matches, and only 1 could be desribed as a winner! He is a talented player, but he needs to be playing (and preferably starting in) regular first team football. Hence the loan move to Boreham Wood.
