Rules you'd like to see introduced...

Recommended Posts

...remember kick ins instead of throw ins?

What rule would you like to see introduced (or inforced rather than let go by the refs) or is the game perfect as it is?

Personally I think any player who goes out of their way to grab hold of the ball as they go down in a tackle to force the referee to make a decision should be done for handball and therefore often booked if the ref thinks it wasn't a foul in the first place.

thats already a rule which is not often enforced as the first free kick (for the foul that sends the player down) takes precedence...

I would like to see shoulder charging go without penalty as it now seems to be 'unofficially outlawed)...its long been part of the game and should remain so...

aggressive dissent should be an immediate red card

As I said, when the ref doesn't think it was a foul. I think ref's don't normally have the courage to give the free kick for handball so therefore give a freekick for a challenge that wasn't a foul. Ref's need to get some courage! Like the Lion in the wizard of Oz!

Agree with you on the shoulder charging, it is a contact sport after all. As for the dissent, they should have just stuck with the ten yard rule, it would have done the job if they had used it.

ha ha....dissent for all TC..?.....anarchy will rule.... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

agree about the obstruction comment...always thought that should be stopped.....

not sure the 10 yard rule worked though...they've stopped it now and it always seemed to me a disadvantage for the taker to be too near the goal on many occasions...

the who by the way were superb...daltry can still hack that R&B voice....

can't wait for the floyd...never thought I'd see them play together again...

Something should be done about those feigned injuries that occur in the last 10 minutes of play. Some are genuine I grant but the majority are out and out timewasting tactics and we all know that time dosent get added on for this, Distinguishing one from another might be difficult but maybe in the last 10 minutes ANY player going down cannot be allowed to take part in the game anymore, genuine and feigned with no subs allowed to compensate for this. Could end up with 5 or 6 going down in which case the rule which says that if under 7 players are left on the field from one team a game would be an abandoned match, this should NOT come into force. It may be tough on the genuine injuries but it will surely have those wasting time think twice.

Floyd were superb. Hightlights were U2, Coldplay, Macca. Travis and REM were surprisingly good.

Is it true Guns N Roses are performing at the Philadelphia gig?

Whereas I would agree that some of the bands were quality, I'm sorry I can't buy into the pretentious crap of Making Poverty History...The amount of crocodile tears shed by various members of the "stars" and bollox spoken has made me wanna run to the sick bag. In fact I couldn't watch most of it for fear of vacating my guts every three minutes.

As for things that should be enforced on the pitch, the obsrution one that TC came up with was especially close to my heart, especially when a striker is running on goal, chasing a through ball.

Chill Gazza, If you don't get the gig at least enjoy the sounds. Surely the Floyd set was a good enough reason on its own. How [****!!****] good was that? Sign 'em up for Injury Time, that's what I say!!

No criticism of the bands was meant but I like to listen to my music and make my mind up. And have my opinion. And as for the interviews backstage...ugh!!!

The Sunday Times did a poll over the weekend where 68% of the polled said that the reason Africa has remained poor was down to corruption and bad government...so Live 8 can change that, how? Pink Floyd's "Money" is the true message of a real world.

My arguement is that the gig was a victory for technical excellence and music performance...but whilst despots and dictators flourish in Africa there will always be the poor, discontected, downtroden people...and for that no amount of "worldwide" Live Aid (8) will cure.

Power will always attract the corrupt...Tony Blair and New Labour, George Bush (oh, please...) can all attest to that.

Gazza is unfortunately right in his assesment...you have to have lived in Africa to understand the politics of it and indeed the history of those nations and their tribal influences...it will never change and most of the money being pumped in there will sadly find its way into the wrong pockets....I know that yesterday wasn't actually about raising funds but it was about attempting to make the representatives of G8 become more susceptible to doing so....trouble is the members of G8 know exactly where that money goes to which is why they are reluctant to increase it

having said all of that...the show yesterday was...in my opinion....magnificent and the agendas of those taking part should also perhaps be given the benefit of the doubt....(can't say the reports of dummies being spat out of prams over dressing room sizes etc being bandied about did much for my respect for some of 'em but hey...thats show business..)

as for pink floyd playing together again...well for me that was history and probably will never happen again so I'm happy and daltry is still the epitomy of R&B at its best..(I first saw the who at 'The Barn' in Burgess Hill over 40 years ago playing in front of 50 people) he hasn't changed much...

quality...top quality.... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

To stop leagues becomeing predictable (eg Chelsea, Man U or Arsenal wining the Prem and Celtic or Rangers winning the Scot Prem) you should put a lady in a cake at the start of the season and when she jumps out the season is finished. Therefore if she jumped out after 5 games whoever is top would be the champs and the bottom 3 relegated. So if someone like Charlton or Man City get off to a flying start then there supporters could start thinking they can win the league without being laughed at, or if Arsenal lost the opening 2 games of the season then Richard Keys could say something like 'Should Arsenal start panicing?' etc. Also it would stop players moaning about playing too many games. You could sell the rights to a tv station and turn it into a tourist attraction. I'm sure someone like Sepp Blatter would be interested in the idea.

If not that rule then players should be made to pick up their wages on the pitch after the game so the supporters can clap or boo as they pick up £50,000.
