As i said last season.Some of the Abbey players were of comparable quality to Towns player.I said then that i didn't feel that signing any of them would improve our squad.We are going all out to try to win the Southern league Div 1 next year,will we have done that with players who came third in the ESL ????

 

There is a old saying in football.'Always play at the highest level possible and enjoy your football'.Those two players have failed in the first aim.I hope they enjoy another season in the ESL more than they would in the Southern league.

 

PS..Given the amount of petrol they will use getting to Hornchurch twice a week (at 86.9 per litre),that extra money the've accepted might well prove to be a false economy.With ETFC haters like Abbeyman/Abbeynut in their ears all the time,i doubt any Abbey player will switch to the Town.I personally don't feel that will be any loss.

Seems to me that this is more about the disatisfaction that some Abbey players must have felt about the failure to get their ground up to scratch, amongst other things. I guess they've made a preety good call about where they are likely to get a level 5 winners medal this season. That's all.

Yeah I'd say so. I've met enough players who'll move clubs for an extra £20 a week and fair play to them. I can't see any other reason why those 2 would turn down Southern League football, if it was actually on offer.

Yeah eventually, passport control was a bit slow at East Cowes so we went via Fishbourne, stopped & searched at Portsmouth but all ok, having trouble changing the Isle Of Wight currency back though!!
