Rebels into the 2nd Qualifying Round of the FA Cup!!!

Slough went behind in the 1st minute, and it stayed that way till half time.

Two goals from Michael Gilkes seals the win for the Rebels.

A game of two halves for Slough,St Leonards never looked to trouble us in either half although we didnt create much ourselves.Unlucky to go behind for the own goal, not sure who put it in tho' ,this seemed to raise the oppositions game.Adrian Blake started his first game for us( because Zeppherin injured himself warming up),he seemed a little bit nervous to me ,punched the ball when it came across the box when under no pressure.Came out 2nd half a different side,Gilkes took his two goals well,Hakki had a good game controlled the midfield with Metcalfe, not one of Sammys better games seemed too interested in winding up their no.5.Another good performance from Palmer seems to have made right back position his own.Overall tho' deserved the win.Hooray we're in the next round which is more important.C'MON YOU REBELS.

Excellent news! If the earlier post on the forum is correct that's another £7500 for that win. Hope we get a home draw for the next round. Does anyone know if the draw has been done up to this point already or has it still to be decided?

Firstly well done to Michael Gilkes. He was having a [censored] match and allowed himself to get wound up by the Slough crowd behind the goal and began swearing at us and becoming abusive but he answered with the best 30 minutes we have seen from him in a long while. Then after the final whistle to come and apologise and shake hands took a lot. Well done Gilkesy. Blake did look very shaky in goal but that will improve as he gets used to playing with the defence. Not much more to be said really but to wait and see who we get in the next round. I believe the draw is on monday.

Gilkes did respond in the best manner possible, but at the same time as budman said, until that point, he was having a very poor game.

Apart from their goal which was pure bad lack for us, they only brought two saves of note from Blake, where we hit the bar twice and created a load of chances in that second half.

I'd say about 70 made the trip all made worthwhile by Gilkes raising his game from the abuse he got from the crowd, and in turn, those goals were worth £3,750 each. Not a bad return!

Can somone tell me when Antony Howard will be back. It said he played a reserve game, but why wasn't he in the squad for the game. I know we won, but he is only going to improve the team more when he's back.

Maidenhead United away then !

Seriously, even though we scored another comical own goal (Sorry Barras, but it was quite funny!) we did seem in control. I felt that even in the first half when we played rubbish.

The wind and the slope on the pitch made a big difference in the second half. 2 goals from Michael put us in front (Gary I thought Veli hit the bar before Gilkes goal?) then it seemed comfortable. The worrying thing was we were in total control and should have won maybe 4-1 or so in the end, but we did not take our chances.

As for Michael, the comments seemed to wind him up, but it's not a good thing to shout out bad things about the players - encourage them! Luckily enough Gilkes responded in a good way, but that's not to say another player might think 'Right i'm not going to bother'.

It also seemed wierd that St Leonards FC was right next door to Hastings FC!

As for Ant Howard, I thought he would have been on the bench. Maybe the management want to give him another game before they bring him back?

Although I agree we should always get behind the players there are times when certain players do not seem like they are trying and you do need to give them some stick. Maybe not as bad as it got on saturday but sometimes there does seem the need. Some players do not respond however much support you give them.
