So where are we?

Before Grimlock or Ian start having a go at me:

Yes, I have talked to Roy Merryweather

Yes, I have tried to contact Mr Deaner (unsuccessfully)

Yes, I do have the latest public documents on Mr Deaner's directorships and the state of his companies, which are concerning.

Yes, I have researched the current state of FRUS Limited and the accounts have still not been filed.

However, I also recognise that because nothing has been posted or statements made, that is NOT to say that nothing is happening. It is a fact that the Club chooses to say nothing to explain where we are now. Mr Deaner tends to play his cards very close to his chest.

Our problem is that whatever is happening, it is being played out against a clock which is ticking remorselessly towards certain deadlines. If the club fails to meet those deadlines then whether the finance is available or not, it has a serious problem.

What are those deadlines?

There are factual ones some of which I suspect may have been met, in view of official silences. These are the membership fees to the various member bodies we need to join to be able to play, such as the Local Association and the Ryman league. The FA rules I was looking at last night take a little more reading to define these absolutely. Some have to be met by 1st June and some by July if my reading of the rules is correct. Maybe someone who knows them well can explain.

Then there is the ground share rent - we have a specific date for that, 1st August. The consequences of failing to meet that are obvious.

The other deadlines are more difficult and potentially damaging.

We know that Eddie has lost players and has no budget to work to, and is therefore unable to reassure the players he already has, or to persuade new ones to join. We know that he has publicly declared that his personal deadline is rapidly approaching, possibly not after next week. It will be difficult to sort out a good new manager in a very short time.

We know that team training is due to start very soon, but will it if there is no signs of the team being settled or paid? The effect could be no pre-season again.

We know that Hodges is already passed the deadline he stated before he needed to look to his future. How many others with a future will be sitting with nobody approaching them and if they do, that must be very tempting - a settled season?

There are also deadlines which need to be met in terms of registering players for the coming season, again looking at the FA rules.

I presume there are also deadlines which the Ryman League will insist on being met as I am sure they will not want to be left with a league which is a team short. I am sure there are other teams which will be watching interestedly at the possibility of taking the spare place, so sooner or later, the Club will be asked to put up or get out.

If none of these deadlines is met, it is clear that the Trust does not have the finances to be able to run a Ryman Premier team, so without a backer, such as the Banker who has been discussed, there will be little that can be done, but to reform at a much lower level

We know that Slough Borough Council will be delighted to have the stone out of their shoe, so there will be no help there.

So these, in crude terms, are the pressures on the club.

Sadly, as fans, it seems all we can do is to sit by and chew our fingernails once again and wait for the sword of nemesis to fall - it may chop our heads off, but hopefully it won't. All we can do is hope that people like Gary Chappell chewing away will eventually get Mr Deaner to let us know if we have a season or not. At the same time I am sure Roy will keep him informed of the fans concerns and of the deadlines he needs to meet if he is not to find that he has the money available but sadly no ground and no manager and no team to go with it.........

It was stated at the Trust AGM that all FA membership fees and League fees have been paid for the upcoming season.

I wasn't having a go at anyone, just suggesting that if anyone wants to know anything about the club the first, and best, person to talk to should be Roy. If people haven't done that it's pointless speculating on here. I know, Andrew, that you have spoken to Roy as have I but I suspect others may have not.

Surely talking to the club is common sense but as the saying goes, the problem with common sense is it's not that common.

I was just writing a letter to MD and looks like you beat me too it!

I will still send it, but does anyone know what is the offical mail address of the club? is it still Wexham park?

Thank you for posting Andrew - your comments sum up so eliquantly the thoughts and feelings of many fans.

You don't accept PMs - send me one with a contact and I'll give you an address. Whether he reads them or not is another matter!

Did you clear this with the inner circle Andrew?

I think you mean the Magic Circle!

We need them here
We need them now
Us poor benighted fans of Slough,
Give us just a little hint:
Generous times or something meaner
O most mysterious Mr Deaner.......

Nope Inner Circle:-

Inner Circle - Sweat (alalalalalong) Lyrics

I've been watching you!

A La La La La Long

A La La La La Long Long

Li Long Long Long.

Come On!

A La La La La Long

A La La La La Long Long

Li Long Long Long.

Standing across the room I saw you smile.

Said I want to talk to you for a little while.

But before I make my move my emotions start

running wild.

My tongue gets tied and that's no lie.

Looking in your eyes

I'm looking in your big

brown eyes.

Ooh yeah

and I've got this to say to you:

Girl

I want to make you sweat

sweat 'til you

can't sweat no more.

And if you cry out

I'm gonna push it some more.

Girl

I want to make you sweat

sweat 'til you

can't sweat no more.

And if you cry out

I'm gonna push it

push it

push it some more.

A La La La La Long

A La La La La Long Long

Li Long Long Long.

Come on!

A La La La La Long

A La La La La Long Long

Li Long Long Long.

So I say to myself if she loves me or not

but the drag I know that love is his to get:

With a little bit of this and a little bit of that

the loser goes on the attack.

But don't get tied and that's no lie:

Looking in your eyes...

Eyes

I'm looking in your big brown eyes...

A La La La La Long...

Push it

push it some more!

A La La La La Long...

All right!

A La La La La Long...

push it

push it some more!

I think the inner circle should now be referred to as the fellowship....

Gandalf Graham,

Martin and Liam as the Pippin And Merry

Dom as Frodo <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Woody as Sam <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

etc etc

Of course it is easy to state the obvious - that is exactly what my post was about - a lot of people keep coming on asking "where are we?", so I just pulled all the information available together in one place, so they could see the issues - it wasn't claimed to be original.

The first and main answer is for Mr Deaner alone - until we know if he wishes to sponsor the team for another season, then nothing else can be done. He could start by either giving Eddie the budget or saying he can't do it. I know I have been banging on about this for a long time, but saying he can't do it as the season starts is too late for anything else to happen, so I just appeal to him or those in contact with him, to persuade him that we are not against him, for heaven's sake, he has kept us going for a good few years, and we are really grateful, but we just need to let everybody know where the club stands.

In any eventuality, the Trust needs to continue to raise money, and I refer you to about half a dozen or so posts I have made on this subject, so don't accuse me of not making suggestions. Marcus and I offered to contact companies about advertising and sponsorship and were politely warned off in case we interfered with something bigger.

So, I guess we sit and wait but try to persuade him to let us know his intentions........PLEASE.

Just to add an idea on how money could be raised---a regular slot at a local car boot sale (Wexham Park if its still on there), with supporters donating items for sale. Not only would it raise a few bob, but just as importantly it would be a vehicle for discussing the club's plight face to face with the community (and selling a few discounted tickets to bring in new/old fans?). I'd be willing to give it a go if others were interested, and if items were donated.

andrew no one has said you have not put your points over to start helping, please go ahead with your suggestion to get advertising etc etc...

but the reason you were asked not to do anything at the moment is the fact no one knows how we are to proceed...but please put into place your contacts and once the go ahead seam likley then all hand to the deck ...this season and for ever...

I will accept anything you can raise for the club..which will be placed in the marketing fund, where odd bills invoices are paid from, keeping the club stable from this side..

go for it...

Chris is right, we just don't know where we stand and that makes it difficult to motivate to fundraise.

But as i wrote in some programme notes - just look at how Whitby Town fans got their act together when they had a deadline and an amount of money to go for - £70,000 raised in 3 years on gates of less than 300.

http://www.sloughtownfc.net/programme_notes/miracle.php

The club at is present level needs £150,000 - 200,000 a season to keep going, there's £10,000 in the Trust account.
