For someone who claims to be something of an expert about music, your lack of knowledge of sixties music astounds me.

 

The Beach Boys the band the Beatles could have been? Yeah, whatever. Even the Beach Boys would tell you that's not true.

 

You've also mis-quoted Alan Partridge, who humourously claimed that Wings were the band the Beatles could have been.

 

You claim that the Small Faces are your favourite group of the sixties. Haha! That's one of the funniest things you've come out with on this board.

 

So, you have a double compilation of Small Faces songs and you've heard a couple of their songs once, when played at random on your Ipod. You probably know Itchycoo Park, Lazy Sunday, and that's about it!

 

You take the piss about the Beatles with your humourous "yeah, yeah, yeah" jibes, yet the Small Faces first record was called "sha-la-la-la-lee"!!

 

I doubt very much you know enough about any other sixties band to even make judgment about who your favourite sixties band are.

 

Have you actually heard anything by the Kinks (apart from the three big hits?) The Byrds? The Who? Dare I say, the Beatles? Have you ever even listened to Abbey Road?

 

Are you aware there's more to the Beach Boys than Surfin' USA or California Girls??

 

Can you even name the three members of Cream?

 

Stick to gibbering about Indie-pop, mate, and leave the 60s discussions to those that actually know what they're talking about.

I can name the three members of Cream! Were the Rolling Stones the band the beatles might have been? Fortunately not,as I never really got on with them, not good enough musically imo.

 

The big four were the Who (best live as you can tell from the Live at Leeds album) Beatles, Stones and Cream. Not far behind bands like Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple etc.

 

Good American bands were Hendrix, Byrds, Doors, Beach Boys and maybe some others I've forgotten. Dylan also of course.

ahh those were the days.. proper bands with proper attitudes..

i did see some of glastonbury to see what the fuss was all about.. i think its was the kaiser chiefs (mind you with so many bands beginning with K and all sounding the same it was tricky to be sure)..

at the end of some tiresome dirge the lead singer went up to the crowd and was immdiatly kept back by some security bouncers.. then he got a big inflatable dinosaur and lobbed it onto the crowd.. staedy on there.. thats real rock n roll.. very keith moon

I annoyed Chas from Chas and Dave once by climbing on the stage with an inflatable dinosaur and encouraging it to play his keyboards.

 

"Get rid of that fking dinosaur", he shouted, and one of the bouncers burst it.
