Cambridge United

Recommended Posts

Whilst I have every sympathy with Cambridge United, particularly their supporters, and the position that they currently find themselves, i.e. owing almost £500k to the Inland Revenue. Am I alone in questioning why, according to many newspaper reports, that the governments 'free-loading' sports minister Richard Caborn is doing all he can to prevent Cambridge United from going under. I note from one newspaper report that he intends pulling a meeting together with all intersted parties to see whether anything can be done to help the club, this includes apparantly even holding a meeting with a senior treasury minister.

If Caborn was the MP for Cambridge I would both understand and expect him to want to get involved, but he's not. He is the MP for Sheffield Central. So why the interest in saving club that has got into a dire finiancial situation of its own making. Why has he not stepped forward to help other clubs when they have got into financial difficulties with the Inland Revenue in the past? ,there certainly has been numerous others.

If a senior government minister can put his name to help save Cambridge United, then supporters of other clubs who have either been put out of business by the Inland Revenue or have come close to closing must feel rightly peeved by this situation. I know I would?
