To be fair to the ' hate Canvey' mob.. In recent seasons they have been our closest rivals, more ever so than the git..

In season 91/92 they where our closest rivals, not before and not since.

Where’s the written rule that says a team needs to be geographically the closest in order for them to be considered rivals?

There are dozens of rivalries that exist for a variety of reasons between clubs which are not geographically close. Leeds and Chelsea supporters have had a rivalry which has lasted for decades despite being hundreds of miles apart. Does it really matter if some supporters have a dislike for a certain club?

A.F.C. hornchurch fan here.....

pains me to say but i think grays might just win the league

This time last year a lot of people where making similar predictions about Canvey.
I reckon that Hereford, Aldershot, Exeter, Satanage and Kiddie will fill at least four of the top five places, there might be a surprise team that edges one of them out of a play-off spot but it is more likely to be Morecombe or Woking than Grays or Us.

A valid point - but it's the tiresome anti-Canvey chants in games in which we're not even playing them (indeed, in 2002/2003 and 2003/2004, not even in the same league as them) that really begin to grate.

Bit like Margit really.

I really disliked them when we played them. Not the fans, but thugs like Sam, and CK.

Oddly, I have been a regular on the Margit forum and have an genuine affinity with some of their fans, such as Cookie.

They really are no different to us, giving their heart and soul to the club they love.

Like a club or loath it, amongst those who you slag off are genuine supporters like all of us. Let us keep the banter to what it is, rivalry with a bit of a laugh and tongue firmly in cheek.

Man Utd fans sing about Eric Cantona and he been gone nearly ten years nows? It add to the atmosphere and so does the anti Canvey Songs.

Lots off people go to football for different reasons but @ the end off the day we ALL go there to have fun n watch our team win & just imagine if there we no singing @ all?

Your a bit fanatic about my spelling and grammar, Fleet Loyal was a bit fanatical about a lot of things, funny that.

The word your looking for is effort. I try to get it right but with being so good looking and being an Allstar sometimes the odd mistake slips through the net.

Anyway sorry I had a go, you don't seem like a bad chap really. I was very frustrated. Parents away, work next day while they sun themselves in Spain, things just got on top of me.

I would have posted this love-in privetly, but if I slagged you off in public I can appologise in public.

Spot on as usual, Jimmy. Let's hope no more 'bonfires' are 'built' this year - especially those that inexplicably include Dagenham as well.

It's interesting that his own posts display similar levels of inaccuracy, though.
