For Chris Baker to answer......

Recommended Posts

.....is it true that the prospective stewards were told at a meeting in the last few weeks that if the Plough End work isn't done by the start of the season we will be thrown out of the conference?

I don't mean to cause waves but what I got told today by somebody who was supposedly at this meeting bloody worries me.

On the one hand, we are all assuming that we still meet the capacity requirements, on the other hand this person was insistent that he heard the above declared.

Well was he at the meeting or not?

Just picture the scene, first match of the season, at home to Hereford, 2,000 fans have paid to get when just before the teams come out John Moules marches out to the centre circle and annouces that the match is off and Gravesend have been kicked out of the conference and that they will play the season with just 21 clubs.

Before posting this sort of crap, you might want to think about what you are actually saying and then ask the question directly to the person concerned rather than via a forum.

I did think about what I was saying & it worries me.

I don't know if he was at the meeting, only because I don't know if the meeting really took place or not. From what he said, if the meeting did take place, then he was there.

As for posting crap, for we all we know, there might be a deadline set by the conference, as opposed to 3pm on the first day of the season. You didn't need to take it the most extreme situation possible.

I'll await an official answer on this.

Hello All sorry for the delay in replying to your thread I have been working for the club over the past two days running penalty comps for local schools and promoting our summer soccer schools which has gone very well.

Anyway to the question in hand I was indeed at a stewards meeting yesterday and the subject of the Northfleet End was raised as it normally is whenever I meet anyone with an interest in the club. The conversation began after a comment by one of my team regarding how unfair everyone thought it was the way Northwich were treated by the Conference over their ground issues.

Sorry pressed enter before I had finished. This led to a conversation about us and the situation is that there has simply been a delay in obtaining the necessary grant funding due to the form which incidently is as thick as war and peace needing some ammendments. The conference are fully aware and there is absolutely no problem with our being a conference club next season. I hope this does put everyones mind at rest, like you I will be much happier when the work begins but there is nothing to worry yourselves about.

The clock is counting down, and I fear the work will not not be completed by the start of the new season, and definately not before the pre-season freindlies. Do not forget, after the work has been finalised there is the matter of getting the work scrutinised by the appropriate safety bodies, (Fire Brigade, Council?). During the summer holidays, it won't be just a quick 'phone call and they will turn up. Likelihood is they will need to be booked weeks in advance.
