Peter "Buzz" Smith

Hi, Guys. Chelmsford City have just signed Peter Smith on a year's contract. What positions can he play in, please, and what can we expect. Thanks.

he is a defender that is prone to the odd bad tackle. good player though

Good signing. Buzz plays mainly on the right side of defence but has also played in midfield, strong in the tackle and has good pace. Given the chance he likes to get forward as well but can`t remember him scoring many goals apart from the screamer against Port Vale which he will always be remembered for.

Has his moments when you think to yourself "what the hell is he doing" but at the same time he can be pure geniuse. had a good end to the season for us. has got plenty of pace and likes to go forward.

One of my alltime favourite players at Canvey I am sure he will do well for Chelmsford. Might pop over to watch Chelmsford when they play AFC Wimbledon if we are not playing.

Ricay/Braintree could be a bit lively next season!! Smithy will do well for Chelmsford. Despite his age he has plenty of pace and on his game he is superb. Is prone to the odd bad mistake but when he plays well he is awesome.

One of my favourites at Park Lane except when he played for Brighton in '95'. Agree with your comments YELLOW, a bit like 'Bambi on ice' in full flight !!

Probably the best signing Chelmsford will make all season.

 

A lot of our success has come with Buzz in the team and he should be acknowledged what a great job he has done for us over the years.

In addition to the Port Vale goal and other occasions, one goal I remember from Gregory against Gravesend at their place in their promotion year. Buzz won the ball just in our half, beat two of their defenders then played a great ball out to Duffers on the left. Duffers then ran down the wing, cut back and laid the ball into the path of Greggors just inside the pen area. Greggors lashed the ball into the net. What a great goal that was and started so well by Buzz.

 

Will miss those “galloping” legs which although has caught a few players with them, had also saved us on very many occasions.

 

Well done Buzz and a candidate for the Canvey Heroes Hall of Fame.
