Must be great to be Scottish. You can support your crap local Scottish side and then have your pick of the English teams to support, depending on who's doing well at the time, without any worries about being loyal to your local side.

It's funny - my 8-year old nephew is an Arsenal fan too. Get the impression he'd probably have been United if he were born three years earlier.

Looks good although a little confused why you'd want to watch it with a Man U fan, even if it is in the Tory club Zeal. Obviously putting your politics ahead of your team even if it does involve watching with the enemy.
I'll probably just find some fellow Spurs fans and watch it down the pub.

At least I'm honest about who I support and I've never made out any different. Unlike you, who as you've already stated in another post jumps on every bandwagon going.

Where is this post?
I have said I have soft spots for certain teams, but the only teams I have ever professed to support were Wimbledon and St.Albans and I'm warming to Spurs (like yourself). Every other team (eg Aldershot) have been made up by the likes of yourself and trawled through continuess piss taking that you've actually started to beleive it.

Tommy Collins - Born In London mate.

My parents took to me to Scotland against my will and my only escape from the grim horror of the north was football. Saw my first professional football game in 1967 - Falkirk v Clyde (first div, now the SPL; score 1-1: weather - cold and miserable).

Drink and football violence led me to punk rock in the seventies and through punk rock I created a literary career for myself that brought me back to London. Living in a squat in Long Acre, Covent Garden in 1979 brought me back to football through Arsenal when I saw them defeat Man U in the classic FA Cup Final.

I'd only popped out to get my breakfast in a cafe, to find the clientele had rigged up a tv there to watch the game. As Arsenal came back to win the game the cafe became a cauldron of heat, energy and excitement. When the Arsenal won the teas were on the house. I re-became a football fan, and became an Arsenal fan there and then, a feeling which has lasted till the here and now

In the next couple of decades I've lived in increasingly closer circles to the sacred stadium of Highbury. Narrowing my life to a single mans room on Elwood street within coming distance of the marble halls.

Of course since I've met the right woman and had kids I'm living a long way from the stadium, a long way from that life-style.

But I'll always remember the cups of tea and the bonhomie of a cheap, Covent Garden caff in 1979.

I hope your 8 year old nephew has a similar tale to tell.

And as for Spurs?

What's your story Mr Carlisle?
