In regard to Director Negative by Hooky Wannabe

Recommended Posts

Well, the season has not even started yet, and its nice to see everyone is in a positive mood. A ball has not even been kicked and all ready people are saying we are going to finish outside the top 15. Well I for one would of not bought a season ticket if I did not believe that the price increase was not going to be worth it. I cant wait to see the Fleet come out of that tunnel and I guarantee you, I will be shouting myself horse, shouting those lads on. I remember I got negative at a match, and someone said to me "Support them, don't critisise them". Well crtisism where its due, but leave it to at least we have played a game.

Rant ends. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

We are still a keeper, a midfielder and 2 or 3 strikers away from getting the right squad, but give Liam credit, those signings he has made appear to be real quality, better than those who left.

If it takes time to get the right players in, then so be it.

It is early days yet, there are still a lot of unresolved contracts, and plenty of good players will be available in July and August.

Its quality, not quantity that counts. I agree, I rather we get the best men for the job, rather than rush in a buy anybody, just to make up the numbers. Although for the keeper, James is still in my opinion a agressive keeper, he at least sticks to his decisions, but also there were rumours that we had a rather good goalkeeper coming up from the youth squad. Whatever happend to him?

You seem to think that finishing 15th would be a negative thing, personally I think that 15th place in this league with a new manager would be a good season.

A lot of people seem to look at the magic 'full-time' words and think we will suddenly be challenging for the title, even if we where full-time, currently we don't have enough full-time players for it to be worth running training sessions, we would only be in the same boat that two thirds of the league have been in for years.

Last season we were 16th in the attendance league, we need to double our attendances to get into the top 5 and then we might manage to challenge for a play-off place.

Until such time as we either find a sugar daddy or manage a huge increase in our gates I think that finishing clear of the relegation zone and having a cup run are realistic targets.

Spot on once again, Slarti.

Well, everyone's hoping for better than 15th, of course, but there's a big difference between hope and expectation. Furthermore, your point about a good start to the season potentially pushing up the attendances inevitably leads us back to the age-old vicious circle scenario regarding increased attendances, increased funds and improved performances.
