First gigs?

Chubbhead EFM

Recommended Posts

Hiya, looking at the posts it seems to me that we haven't had one that revolves around music for at least....oohhh....a day! So to put this right I'm starting one myself with a few questions to make you feel nostalgic!

1.What was the first gig you went to?

2.What is the best gig you've ever been to?

3.What was the first record you evr bought?

I'll start you all off:

1.I went to see Van Morrison at the Olympia(?) in London as part of an Irish expo thing with my paddy mother. Other fantastic bands on the bill were B*witched,OTT(boy band),and the Saw Doctors! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif" alt="" />

2.OASIS!!!! seen them twice,Finsbury park gig was best!

3.Live Forever-Oasis. Pretty good considering I was 9 at the time!

1. The Dooleys in St.albans when i was 4, otherwise Airhead at the ULU in 1992

2. That's a hard one - Clint Boon at the garage 2000 because I was picked to sing on the stage and then appeared in the melody maker and it was the most amazing atmosphere, althought Whos the daddy now at king tuts in galsgow was pretty ace as well as was Jims Super Steroworld everywhere!

3. I hear talk by Bucks fizz in 1984 (with my own money), with my mums - I will survive 1978

I'm 28 by the way, so I started young on all these!

This is going in to the realms of bizarre confessions....

1. 1st gig was when my dad took me to see George Benson in Bournemouth as a child (I reckon I was about 11), 1st gig of my own freewill was Oasis at Knebworth in '96 on the Sunday and it was a great way to start..

2. Probably Radiohead in South Park, great day, great music, even when it rained it was perfect. The Knebworth performance is still up there, as is Super Furry Animals at Cambridge Corn Exchange and U2 in Birmingham, they may be a bit old but they're still one of the best live acts about...

3. This is difficult, I am a late developer in music, I think it was Waterboy's whole of the moon. Probably the first album I consceiously bought was Radiohead-The Bends, just trying to regain a bit of dignity there....

I do, I've got Metallica - Metallica and S&M (it's an album, don't be getting no strange ideas!).

I wouldn't be surprised if anyone else does too. I like 'em but they aren't someone I'd listen every day, on the basis I've got about 350 albums I'd listen to 3 or 4 times a year..

I've found it also pays not just to like one type of music, because you're more likely to miss out on something good if you do, in fact, I can see another thread developing, 'albums I own that people wouldn't expect me to'.

I was going to see ACR when they played last but they clashed with another gig.

I haven't actually seen the film, what i meant was they wasn't on the soundtrack.

Are they headlining the forum or support?

I've got a couple of the albums, one in one of them grey factory boxes (cassette) and Good Together

Zimmerman you have good taste! I went to finsbury on the sunday and it was excellent.I went to see Oasis at wembley two years ago for the first time and I thought they couldn't surpass that night but they proved me wrong. DM was the first album I bought. That means I 've been an Oasis fan for 8 years! That's all of my teenage life so far!
