Anyone else see the Beach Boys film on Channel 5 yesterday?

 

Quite good in parts, I thought, though not being a big fan of the Beach Boys myself, I'm not sure how strictly they stuck to the story.

 

It's encouraged me to dig out Pet Sounds and Smiley Smile again though, and I'll spin them on the old MP3 player this afternoon!

Why did you two decide not to go to an Oasis gig this year again ?

Because I feel that seeing a band more than a handful of times over a space of a few years is sad, bordering on the obsessive, not to mention a waste of money.

 

There are a variety of other wonderful things to do in life besides seeing the same band over and over again.

compared to proper stars like bruce springsteen, madonna, the monkees, whitney houston etc, those are the real stars of the future buddy

Nah, they don't suck. They're just not a great deal better than the majority of the opposition.

 

Oasis are a bit like Man Utd, I suppose. They're still gonna finish in the Top 3, but are a bit old now, and don't have the freshness to make a realistic challenge to the new talent.

The Baech Boys were the band The Beatles could have been so I hear.

 

I was going to see Art Brut for the 30th time this year but I'm a bit pissed off with all the football hooligan type people that follow them around now!

Yes, I think I know the one. I said that, although I wouldn't mind going to see Oasis this Summer, I get put off by the twats that went along lobbing bottles and starting fights. Finsbury Park was crap for that very reason, and I'm not bothered about missing out.

 

I've seen them three times before, and that's plenty enough for a normal gig-goer.
