Genuinely, I hope you're right. I can't stand either Chelsea or Arsenal as you know, and United are still the only real, albeit flagging, competition for the big two.

But with Van Nistelrooy (back to Holland) and Ferdinand (Chelsea) strongly rumoured to be leaving in the summer, Chelsea are just too far ahead.

Can't see Robinson going to United, and to mention Ledley is plain ridiculous as he's just signed a new contract at Spurs and has said how happy he is.

Michael Owen, unfortunately, will sign for Arsenal.

As an aside, Thornsy and I will probably go behind the goal for the Spurs/United game at WHL. Where will you be sitting?

20 mill budget from Glazier and the club are clearly in the market for a goalkeeper as Carroll seems to be off and Howard is no trusted as well. Also for Glaziers absurd business plan to work will need to be re-established as a big club in europe hence no sales. Owen may come in as he is a name player in the far east and will help shift merchandise

I don't think United will go in for Robinson, myself. Given is the safe bet - proven as quality after years in the Premiership. Niemi could be likely, too. He'll be desperate to leave Southampton and, if Ferguson is on a bit of a tight budget, he'll free up more cash for outfield players than Robinson would.

What I dislike somewhat is assumption that Robinson will go - he is, after all, contracted to Spurs for a few more years. At least I would have thought he would be. Robert Green looked pretty decent as a replacement last night if he does go, though.

Can't see Owen going to United either. I would have thought Newcastle would be a more likely destination. This theory is based on nothing solid, though.

Man U do have a 20 mill transfer budget as Glazier promised this cant see him backtracking as that may lose the undecided in relation to the [****!!****]

Also keeper needed didn’t say it would be Robinson personally I think it will be Niemi as Spurs are in a position to ask good money the saints aren’t and he will want out

For the business plan to work Glazier has to sell more merchandise hence Owen and a new GK

I don't think he needs a new striker. He should be able to get more out of Van Nistelrooy, Rooney and Smith (and, of course, the presumably late Louis Saha). He'll be needing someone to replace Keane and Giggs in a couple of years. In the immediate future, I would have thought he'd be looking for someone to play alongside Ferdinand at the back.

I agree with you about the goalkeeper, though. Maybe he'll offer big money for Cudicini, but I wouldn't think Chelsea would want to sell to United (and it's not as is they need to sell him - I haveno idea how happy Cudicini is warming the bench at Stamford Bridge). Niemi is the obvious financial choice, and Given is the safer bet. So far as I'm aware, Spurs are reasonably well off right now, so they can demand top dollar for Robinson.

Mind you, how much money is £20m at the top end of the Premiership these days? Wigan have got that sort of money to spend on new players...

Robinson's going nowhere. He's on a long contract, won player of the year last season, and has stated he is very happy at Spurs where he has hero-status.

Believe me, when it comes to players leaving I'm the most pessimistic fker around, but there's no way on earth Robinson will leave for United this Summer.
