Abbot back at Slough?

Recommended Posts

Anyone fancy gary Abbot back at Slough?

He could become available from Braintree after having his money cut by half for next season.

I don't know where he live now but he reckons he does a round trip of 180 miles evertime he goes to Braintree.

He's now 40 and says he feels more like 35 and thinks he can still do a good job for somebody.

Not often a good move to go back to where you had glory days, not often repeated, and end up losing reputation

If memory serves, Abbott lives in Rochester, Kent, so if it's a fair hike to Braintree, it's going to be a harder trek to Slough. I doubt we could offer more than Braintree's reduced terms in any event. Even if Slough were in a position to offer a good deal for all parties, I wouldn't be heartbroken if he turned us down. There are better - and younger - players out there. Let's give Matt Seedel a fair run in the team to see what he can produce over a season. He proved himself increasingly capable when picked last season and is capable of scoring some good goals (his third at Worthing is proof enough - could you ever imagine someone of Abbott's experience [read: arrogance] chasing back to create a goal like that for himself?)

Gary Abbot in his prime ranked up there with the very best non league strikers-you really don't have a clue about football-do you ?

did you actually read what I said? you've got it quoted there so I don't need to remind you but he was about 31 when he came to us, had to replace the legendary Mark West, had bugger all pace and seemed to have a very poor attitude therefore in my opinion he was never that good for us. Other people may have other opinions but that's my opinion and I'm going to stand by it
