A few weeks....

Recommended Posts

...ago I posted on here a suggestion as to an ESL soiree down at Burnham on Crouch on SaturdaySunday June 25/26.

Nothing too elaborate, but a meet in the Railway (err outside the station) then down to the river front to the Star, was the usual route taken when it was a regular occasion for Romford fans in the mid 90s.

Time then to chew the cud, a few light ales and maybe a meal in the Indian next door or off home; whichever takes your fancy.

I am sure there is nothing sporting on that weekend, unless Nike force England to play a quick friendly in Tierra del Fuego, and now that everybody is almost 'footballed out' it could make a good day.

Unfortunately there are no direct trains to Burnham these days so it means either a change at Shenfield or Wickford, but the wait time for connections is about 4 minutes.

All welcome including Townies!

Sorry Coup. Having earlier put you straight on the date thingy I should have mentined that, as much as I would love to, I shan't be able to make it on the day - you did say Saturday didn't you!

This is cos I have promised to help out at the Harold Hill Fete on that Saturday.

Breaks my heart to think that I will be missing out on a few pints of good real ale instead but a promise is a promise. As always.

Have a good time lads and lift a glass to me before you get too far gone to remember that I'm not there.
