Why was the original Hartsdown park demolished and why were archaelogical investigations taking place at the site? Just been looking at the stadium gallery!

Probably sounds stupid, but don't know much about the stadium redevelopment and was interested.

Hi and welcome

The stadium was demolished as i understand it because the previous chairman and board of directors took the decision. There was a 12ft slant from one corner to the other and by raising the ground as it has now, would have meant that the old wooden stand and coffin end would have had to be demolished anyway.

Many things then plagued the club like stadia management going bust ( the original funders of the project), Jim Parmanter leaving and the local council changing from a cooperative labour council (whom would cooperate with KP fully) into an unorganised uncooperative conservative council ( whom seem to put every obstacle in the way and do not cooperate). The conservatives said to a certain labour councilor when she handed the planning documents over ' we wont need those documents we'll do things our own way'. (what does that tell you)

The fact is that Hartsdown Park would never come up to league standard as it was although im sure some people on this forum may have their opinions on this matter which im sure they will give.

I asume they had found something in the area or even on the land that was worthy of invetigation.

If that was the case then the club would have got the bill to conduct the survey as well.

There was an interesting article on Radio 5 live a little while ago about pigeons. Now some people dislike them, some like them, a lot of people do not have an opinion one way or the other. There are those from the latter two groups that think it is quite OK to feed them. I have done so myself in the past, they can be quite entertaining strutting around and coo-ing. The problem with doing that is that when you do, they tend to increase in numbers dramatically. Nothing wrong with that, you may think, but then you have a really quite unpleasant public health problem in that you get a lot of poo all over your local environment. And that can be very distressing for those that are very fond of their local environment. There then becomes a problem in that the people who have to live with the nuisance then want them removed. One way is culling, which is quick, but as an animal lover not particularly acceptable to many. The other way is to stop feeding them and hope in time that the number decreases naturally, or that they move away to a place where food is more plentiful.

I have several bird tables in my garden, and am visited by quite a number of species, and it is very good to see a diversity of wildlife. But if I saw too many pigeons around I would have to stop putting food down for a bit, there is enough crap around already to encourage any more.

If they are giving you so much trouble with ruining your environment, perhaps you should shoo them away instead of simply trying to cope with the situation by not involving yourself with them. You helped them come to you in the first place. Be a little more active in getting them to go away if they are being a nuisance.

(took me a while to get the metaphor there)

Maskell. Your so anti mfc. I think you'd be happpy with a kent county side playing at jackey bakers and the players paying £3 to play. My family have supported mfc for 5 generations and come form margate right back to the early 1800's. We've all played our part in helping the club whether it be cleaning up after a game on a sunday morning, working functions or doing things for the supproters club. To call me a liar which imo is quite funny. You see I know a thing or two about football and your not a supporter. I just think you are blind in seeing what SE and his council are trying to do to mfc. I'll spell it out to you mate, he's playing for time putting obstacles in the way. Open your eyes to it mate, look at thanet now as a whole and tell me what he's done thats good.
