The article in the observer also said that the club could not give him an answer to the future of the club as far as next season goes.

 

This also seems to confirm my previous statement that Deaner cannot give any guarantees.

 

Hodgey must know this, so giving the club an ultimatum that, as far as we are aware, the club cannot give, indicates to me that he has resigned himself to leaving.

Does say he wants to be captain too. Which I think indicates he has a desire to stay for a longer term because I dont think Steve Daly wants to give that band up just yet.

I think Hodgey does want to stay, the comment about being captain, he referes to the supporters as "we" and if he really wanted to go he would have been long gone. Maybe he can see he's better off playing first team football week in and week out than sitting on the bench like Booty and Mullet. I hope so anyway. Maybe this is the nudge that the club needs to sort things out prior to the AGM. Again, I hope so.

I agree, I think hodgey does want to stay but I don't think the club can give him what he's asking for i.e. a guarantee that Slough will have the neccesary funding to remain a Ryman football club next season.

However much he wants to stay with Slough he has to be realistic given the choice of signing for a team of a higher standard and more money or stay with a team who cannot give him an answer about his future until probably August by which time those offers will most likely to have gone.

me too...and on another point much as it was nice to see Daly return to his capaincy, i thought hodgey did a supreme job as captain a while back

well dalys probably only got one or two seasons left in football, if we can hold onto hodgey til he retires then he should be the next captain, but holding onto him is the problem!
