The Magic Number single was recently described as "A song The Beatles would of wished they had written"

Just downloaded it.

Whoever came out with that quote is having a fking laugh, and has obviously never heard a Beatles album in their whole miserable life.

Sounds a bit like the Delgados, I thought. Bland.

The Magic Numbers sound as much like the Delgados as Oasis sound like the Beatles!!! Maybe because I loved the Delgadoes I'm not very objective here. I suppose the Delgadoes have male/female vocals, but they don't really do jingley-jangley guitar stuff like that Magic Numbers track. I do like that Magic Numbers choon though .....

Oh heard 'Don't Believe The Truth', for the first time I actually would class it as good, but not great, original or particularly inspiring.

Heard the new coldplay effort, Radiohead light, with nods to U2 incredibly bland, average.

The new White Stripes one was a bit better would class it as good - on an even keel with Don't Believe The Truth.

It's better than Heathen Chemistry in my honest opinion. Far less weaker tracks and there's no songs on there that I want to skip on.

Have heard most of X&Y as well. Would certainly say more than a few nods to U2.

Actually think that is one of the weaker songs on the album although it is growing on me now.

Best song on the album? Has to be Let There Be Love. A simple but beautifully constructed song and one of Liam's most heartfelt vocals in years.

Saying that Andy Bell's two contributions to the album, Turn Up the Sun and Keep The Dream Alive are absolute belters!!
