Last Nights Game

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I guess.

And of the two teams, I wanted Liverpool to win.

But I'm not a fan of Liverpool, and the 'English club' thing doesn't wash with me, to be honest.

For the majority of last night's game, Liverpool had just two British players in their side - it's not like the Liverpool teams of old, who were 95% British, and you actually felt that an English side had won.

Liverpool now are just another team of European players plucked from several different countries.

I'm pleased for their fans, but I certainly do not feel a sense of national pride that they won.

Had a great night out watching the game but as you say this whole "its good for the English game" is complete bo**ocks. I

ts a great advert for the Premiership would be more correct as out of the top clubs only Man Utd can lay any claim to using British talent consistantly.

Chelsea have Johnson, Bridge,Terry, Lampard, Cole and Duff

[****!!****] have Campbell and Cole

Liverpool have Finnan, Carragher and Gerrard

Man Utd can pick a full British eleven Carroll, G Neville, Ferdinand, Brown, OShea, Fletcher, Keane, Scholes, Giggs, Rooney and Smith. Still leaves P Neville,Miller and Richardson as subs.

Now whatever you might think that has to be good for the British game

I don't think there was the hatred for Liverpool in the 80s as there is with Man United or Arsenal now. Liverpool used to win with grace and their managers were respected by fans of other clubs unlike the tossers that are Arsene Wenger and Alex Ferguson.

People did hate them but it was because they were winning all the time. They had a grudging respect for them but Liverpool were not the moaners and whingers we see with Arsenal and Man United today.
